Part 1: Visited their store during their Grand Opening. Prices were more reasonable during their promotion period but prices seem super overpriced if not for their discount. They didnât have many tarts left when I went but I got to try their mochi tart and it was super delicious. Very buttery, so much that i could see the melted butter left in the tin and the pastry was very flakey. Iâd definitely eat this again. I also tried their taro mochi-lato which was an interesting dessert with different textures. There were the taro balls, which were pretty flavourless on their own, then there was the taro paste, panna cotta flavoured gelato mixed with a mochi paste. The mochi paste was also pretty flavourless on its own but the idea is to mix it all up for the balance of flavour, which I quite enjoyed. Their sliced cakes were priced at almost $10 a slice which I thought was too expensive so I gave it a miss.
Part 2: Came earlier on their last day of their opening promotion to try out more items at a discounted price. I tried out the durian marshallow portugese tart and while I worried it might be very sweet, it was sweet but not overly so and there were real pieces of durian inside the tart. The mango sticky rice crepe was quite average. It wasnât overly sweet but the taste overall was not mind-blowing either. I felt like it lacked a bit of coconut flavour to fulfill the âmango sticky riceâ flavour. One of my favourites was the salted egg yolk croissant. While it was very pricey, the croissant was very buttery and flakey and there was molten salted egg yolk inside which was super delicious. Itâs quite a heavy pastry and a bit messy to eat but I loved it! Today, I also tried the hazelnut mochi-lato and again, loved the textures of the mochi-lato! Highly recommend if...
Read moreMy family is massive lover of and regular consumers of bubble tea...ShareTea, Gong Cha, Cha-Time, King Tea, Ben Gong, Machi Machi, Gotcha, CoCo, Bubble Nini, iMuz, even for those who remember Easy Way, you name it, we've tried it. Yet never ever in twenty years of experience we came across a service this bad anywhere.
The lady servicing us was very rude, and nearly charged us with a wrong price. Tried to order Peach Oolong tea with no foam. We kindly asked if it is already sweet by default if we put no sugar, she didn't explain to us nicely. And when it comes to paying, we noticed that the cashier register screen was blank, and suddenly we were charged with $11.95 for one drink, which should've only cost $8.80.
When asked about it, the lady insisted that it was because we are paying with credit card and there's surcharge apply. I mean $3.15 for surcharge, are you kidding me? That's like 35% surcharge. There's no place anywhere even in public holiday charge their customer 35% extra. Then the lady still rudely whispered to us (maybe she was afraid that the other colleague would notice) if we want to pay cash instead.
That feels like a fraud or the staff is trying to corrupt some money from the shop.
Never once in any shop in any place in the world where we had to cancel a bubble tea order then walked away, and never ever I had to put a one star on any store, until now. Will never return again.
P.S. please don't get me wrong, the Sweet Lu at Haymarket is great. It's not the brand, it's not the food....

As a customer who once ordered a $260 birthday cake, I feel compelled to warn everyone: Donât let your expectations be ruined by terrible service!
1ïžâŁ Safety Hazards and Shifting Responsibility When ordering the cake, my keys fell through a gap in the counter (the gap was visibly over 3 cm wide). The staff coldly stated, âItâs not our problem,â and even prevented me from retrieving them myself. The business was clearly aware of the design flaw but ignored the safety of customersâ belongings, which is utterly disappointing.
2ïžâŁ Extremely Poor Service Attitude Two staff members wore sour expressions, rolled their eyes, and whispered mocking comments about me behind my back. Paying such an amount for a cake should not feel like begging for serviceâthis kind of treatment is simply absurd!
3ïžâŁ Refusal to Resolve Issues When faced with reasonable concerns, the staff repeatedly emphasised, âWeâre not obligated to deal with this,â showing a complete lack of responsibility. High-priced custom orders should include basic service, but here, even basic respect was a luxury.
Summary: The cake might have been acceptable (though not worth $260), but the service completely ruined the birthday experience. There are countless excellent dessert shops in Chatswoodâthereâs no need to endure such arrogance and risks here. I have already filed a complaint with NSW Fair Trading and suggest the business fix the counter gap and their ethics as soon...
