I have never written a Google review before but after my partner and I stumbled across this cafe and the almost laughable experience we had, I thought no better time than now. Upon grabbing a table, a staff member immediately came over to ask if we wanted to start off with any coffee to which we said we needed just an extra minute or two to decide. However, this is where it all went down hill. We then waited for about 15-20 mins for someone to come back over despite the cafe being quiet, so I decided to go in and place the order at the counter myself. I then ordered a Butter Boy cookie and two coffees. Upon cutting the cookie in half, it was as if it had been sitting in the freezer ready to be defrosted that day - certainly not fresh like BB cookies we've had at other cafes. As our coffees were brought out, we asked if we could have the cookie heated up (because hey, if we can't get it fresh at least it won't be ice solid!). While we waited with our coffees, my partner then noticed set of lipstick markings on the top of the mug as if someone gave a used mug a quick rinse under water and thought: "that'll do!". I brought this up when the cookie came back out another 15 mins later, and they basically just said they could make the coffee again. I guess I would have expected this to be taken off the bill as that's quite frankly disgusting? I'd say it would be pretty clear to anyone running a cafe that we (and most people) would be disappointed by these consecutive failings, but it just seemed like our server really didn't care (and perhaps the rest of the staff?). As we got up to leave, I noticed her sat behind us and she gave me a smug look failing to either care or comprehend how for $22 we got one of our shittiest cafe experiences from recent memory. And so weird given we visited this cafe based on the seemingly positive reviews it's received? Would love an explanation for this as I'm still...
Read moreAbsolutely loved my visit to The Trail Café in Vaucluse! I had the avo smash and it was fresh, full of flavour, and beautifully presented. The chai latte was perfectly spiced and so comfortin on a cool autumn day like today. Definitely one of the best I’ve had in a while. The staff were friendly and efficient, the atmosphere was relaxed, clean and vibey. I’d highly recommend this cafe for a laid-back brunch spot. Can’t wait to return and try other options...
