Okay, so I've read a few of the recent reviews and a lot of them seem to be quite negative. Which confuses me greatly. I just must be one of the lucky ones?
My experience here was pleasant. I visited with my wife and two kids, a toddler and baby. I felt it was extremely kid friendly as my baby was trying to escape on foot/hands and knees and no one was looking at us with shame or anything. One of the waitresses gave a caring smile and interacted with our baby. Moreover, when I overheard my wife order I could her having banter and laughs with the server. When I looked over the counter to the staff, I only saw happy and busy staff. So not sure what the other comments about rude or unfriendly staff was about.
In terms of food, we ordered two pies, a sausage roll, and a banana milkshake. Everything was fine. Taste was fine, and price was fine. I think a solid 4 out of 5 for your typical bakery. Was it award winning? I wouldn't go that far, but was it dismal? Absolutely not dismal. So there were some pretty harsh comments I read about the pies being too cold and straight out of freezer. But when I visited and ordered I could see the pies plain as day behind the counters being kept warm like any other bakery. I didn't have any dessert by visually they looked very tempting. And the banana milkshake was any other typical banana milkshake.
Main thing for us is that the prices were very fair. Two doors down was a brunch play, but we avoided it because the prices were getting to a point of daylight robbery. We appreciated this bakery for keeping food prices realistic. We felt it was a great visit for a decent feed at affordable prices. And not trying to take advantage of the growing popularity of Daylesford tourism industry.
I would definitely visit again and...
Read moreDaylesford Bakery serves up a familiar country spread—pies, sausage rolls, salad rolls, vanilla slices, donuts, and a solid coffee lineup.
We spent just under $50 for a steak & pepper pie, two sausage rolls, a ham cheese salad roll, custard tart, cappuccino, flat white, and almond mocha. The coffees were smooth and satisfying, though they took a little longer than expected—worth the wait if you’re not in a rush.
The steak & pepper pie had a bit of kick—likely from fresh cracked pepper. My daughter found it a touch spicy, so if you’re sensitive to heat, it’s worth noting. The ham cheese salad roll was served in a Turkish bread roll with generous filling and was genuinely satisfying. The custard tart was fresh and well-balanced.
Pastries overall were edible, if not memorable. They’ll fill a gap, but don’t expect a gourmet twist.
There’s seating both inside and out, making it easy to settle in whether you’re escaping the chill or soaking up the country air.
Overall: a dependable bakery with familiar flavours and a few quiet wins. Not a showstopper, but comforting in...
Read moreFirstly an extra $5 for a bacon and egg roll just cos I wanted to sit down and eat it instead of taking it away is abit ridiculous but when I ordered it from the board she was rude on asking me large or small. I dunno it doesn't say options on the board. I then ordered a Mocha and apparently she wasn't impressed with how I pronounced it because she said incredibly condescendingly did you mean Mocha. The woman who brought my plate put slammed it down infrount of me and didn't say a word. I was so uncomfortable in this place. The roll was fine although bearly worth the $7 takeaway price let alone the $12 eat in price. the MOCHA was fine aswell but when there is so many other great places for breakfast in daylesford I can safely say I will never be returning. Lol update apparently she was not happy I just took a photo in here. As you can see you are not in it. It's just the board...
