If I could give zero I would …You would be a fool to book a function here , word of advice you are booking a function I would make sure you get till read out every hour to make sure they haven't been heavy-handed on the till and that the print out is correct because you'll be told that you'll reach the minimum stand but you'll never get there
Venue struggled with a function , more than happy to charge even though several people didn’t get feed, and a slip up with opening a full bar tab instead of charging for drinks, disappointing considering early booking stages were great and they were highly accomodating.DONT DO THE FEED ME MENU COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY
Careful with a minimum spend, we hit the amount then they claimed we didn’t..so had to pay extra , should have asked for running tab amount all the time be very careful with this venue .
We did adjust numbers from 20 to 30 but was flexiable on the menu, and seating basically Told them to seat as resturant doesn't have to be on one or eating all together, but sadly didn't help. Disappointing considering we gave them all the flexibility to adjust according.
The management had talked the talk but I feel may have been overselling, as it was a complete shambles. If you hold a function please keep close tabs on food going out , to ensure value and what you pay for is actually delivered as I could guarantee our correct amount was not delivered.
Many guests didn't eat or get offered the menu this was confirmed by the venue but they were happy to charge, bar tab was started even though it was a pay as you consume party (orders at the bar) We did pay, a very significant bill, as we know how hospo has struggled after being in the same industry, but very disappointed in the staff as it could have got worse for them. Only reason we paid was it was night before the wedding and argument wasn’t worth it, complete utter joke.
We had 3 functions there consecutive days, 1st shocking, 2nd 50/50 little food 3rd small party of 16 still manage to have issues putting entree and mains together and missed side meals, completely dodgy management, would give the, a cent more ever
The food smelt great and what was eaten people said was great but maybe just stick to smaller parties wouldn't recommend anything above 8 might be pushing it.
Careful of the 10% service that just get put on and then they ask for a tip as well, it's a disappointing practice by management, maybe owners should wake up...
Food was over priced many industry people commented on the limited amount for the number, and limited staff available, am not sure weather I would give it a go again, which is disappointing. Am sure they will work it out but they have burnt several industry ( Travel and Hospitality) which won’t be recommending them.
Updated Funny that same people still there and now the true service reviews coming through , NOT VERY...
Read moreBeen past this place many times thinking it looked nice as the decor was modern and clean. Then last weekend we stopped there for lunch. It looked closed as there were no customers inside, but we tried the door and it opened. Why was such a nice looking place so empty whilst Larder was spilling out the door?
The lady who greeted us was not natural at hospitality. There was one person in the kitchen, yet a vast menu, which should have rung alarm bells - how can one person make so many different meals!! Well as Gordon Ramsey discovered often on Kitchen Nightmares, food came out of packets, cans or was precooked. Mr Chen’s prawn dumplings look a lot less processed than the offering here. Then, high hopes for the red duck curry were quickly dashed as the curry looked like Campbell’s canned tomato soup, which my wife refused to touch. I must have left 3/4 of it and the hostess with leastest said nothing as she swiped it away. Meanwhile, old one-man-band in the kitchen was stuffing his face with lichees out of a can. I am hearing, let’s get of here, as my wife goes to make use of the bathroom, and I go to pay our emotionless and frankly disinterested host, who did not even bother to ask how the lunch was…as I suspect she knew how it was. Feeling I was robbed of the opportunity to provide feedback, we walked out knowing in future why we will walk past Betel...
Read moreWe recently had lunch at Betel Boy, and it was easily one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in a while. Every dish we ordered was packed with flavour, perfectly cooked, and beautifully presented.
We tried the Penang curry with rice, Barramundi fish, and the standout Korean chicken ribs—each dish offering a unique flavour profile that made the meal feel like a culinary adventure.
The Penang curry was rich, creamy, and aromatic, with just the right amount of spice. It was perfectly paired with steamed jasmine rice, which absorbed all the curry goodness and made every bite satisfying and comforting.
The Barramundi fish was cooked to perfection—crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The freshness of the fish was clear, and it was served with a light, tangy sauce that elevated the dish without overpowering it.
But the highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the Korean chicken ribs. Sticky, crispy, and bursting with bold Korean flavours, they were addictive from the first bite. The glaze was sweet, savoury, and spicy in just the right balance, and the meat was fall-off-the-bone tender.
The service was warm and efficient, and the ambiance was modern and welcoming—ideal for a relaxed lunch.
In short, Betel Boy delivered on all fronts. Delicious food, great atmosphere, and memorable dishes. We’re already planning...
