Kate's Place — Restaurant in Western Australia

First time we came here, it was a great experience. Beautiful coffee. Second time we came, one of our coffees tasted really bad which we thought was unusual. So we brought back the coffee, asked for a new one, and they made us pay again? I've been a barista for over 7 years and have worked at many cafes all over Australia and I've never heard of someone charging for a coffee remake. I've left reviews before at cafes when the coffee wasn't great and they've replied saying we should have asked for a new one and they'd be happy to remake it. I've just never had this happen before. Second time we ordered oat milk so would have been fair enough to charge the extra dollar or whatever it costs, but not another $5+. Shame because we walked 20 mins across town to get there specifically for the coffee because first time around it was great. Not going back again. Maybe this is a bit harsh but I'm just in shock 😅 My partner was the one to get the new coffee so I didn't know he was charged extra...

Used to be one of our favourite places in Albany, we have been coming here for years whenever we visit from Perth, not anymore after today though. Waiting over 45 minutes for food (with little kids) and for them to run out of food. The burger I ordered and waited 45 mins for, they didn't even have the ingredients for. I appreciate they refunded the burger but I don't think we will come back , it is not good to make people wait so long , and the place didn't look that busy .

The kids burger we got was very burnt ,and we got a tiny portion of chips with the panini .

Twice recently the vanilla slice, best ever, has been unavailable, so I have tried a couple of others. The carrot cake was very ordinary and a bit dry and today I had the apple and ginger upside-down cake. If I hadn't known what it was, I'd have had to make a wild guess as it had zero flavour and was also a bit dry. The only thing that tasted were the apple slices on the top (or bottom, I guess as it's an upside-down cake) and I couldn't taste any ginger at all.
