Top notch Italian restaurant with friendly service and delicious food. Having a reservation at 5:30pm on a Friday night, we almost had the whole restaurant to ourselves. The servers were friendly and attentive, and even offered us complementary mini arancini balls. The mini arancini were crispy with a burst of flavour. They weren’t visually very appealing but it was a very nice surprise to receive them. It wasn’t too long of a wait for the carbonara and chilli mussels. The mussels were fresh and packed a respectable amount of spice to them; there was a generous serving of mussels and sauce. The carbonara was delicious and the portion was very filling. The chocolate tart consisted of a scoop of tasty ice cream and a slab of rich chocolate on top of a crumb tasting residually nutty and burnt - in a good way. And good value, too - I can’t complain about anything. I would 100% come back again and strongly recommend this.

Went for dinner last night Wednesday, 4 people. We had lamb ragout, Beef scaloppini & entrée garlic prawns, Linguine Alfredo and Gnocchi. Generous servings for all , we all enjoyed and thought delicious. Staff were pleasant and attentive. Garlic bread and the mini arancini balls yummy also. Some of us even had enough for a doggy bag for the lunch the next day. We will be back much enjoyed, Thank you. There is also parking available on the road or a little further up.

The photo does not do this meal justice! This was one of the best Italian meals I’ve had out in a long time. My partner and I shared the seafood risotto and spaghetti marinara. Both were incredible with lots of fresh seafood, the standout was the risotto it was amazing. We received complimentary arancini which were also delicious. Staff were wonderful too. Two seafood mains, a bottle of wine and an entrée all for $110. We will definitely be back ☺️

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ La Vela: Scarborough’s Hidden Gem for Italian Soul Food

Tucked along Scarborough Beach Road, La Vela Restaurant is a warm, welcoming slice of Italy that consistently delivers comfort, flavour, and charm. Whether you're after a romantic dinner, a family celebration, or just a hearty plate of pasta, this spot hits the mark.

🍽️ Food That Feels Like Home

The gnocchi Portofino is pillowy perfection, bathed in a rich tomato cream sauce that’s both indulgent and balanced.

Garlic prawns and arancini are crowd favourites—crispy, aromatic, and generously portioned.

For mains, the chicken scallopine and seafood risotto are standouts, showcasing fresh ingredients and classic technique.

Dessert? Their tiramisu and panna cotta are textbook Italian—light, creamy, and not overly sweet.

🍷 Drinks & Service Expect a solid selection of Italian wines, liqueurs, and beers. The staff are attentive without being overbearing, and they go the extra mile—whether it’s plating up a birthday cake with a sparkler or recommending the perfect wine pairing.

🌟 Atmosphere & Experience La Vela balances elegance with coziness. The décor is charming, the lighting soft, and the vibe relaxed. It’s the kind of place where you linger over your meal and leave feeling genuinely looked after.

💰 Value & Accessibility With mains in the A$20–40 range, it’s excellent value for the quality. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options are available, and takeaway is a breeze if you're in a hurry.

📍 Location 78 Scarborough Beach Rd, Scarborough WA 6019 Open evenings Tuesday to Sunday, with lunch service on Fridays. Closed Mondays.

La Vela isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a reminder that great food, warm service, and a little Italian magic can turn an ordinary night into...

La Vela came highly recommended by several locals when we first moved in to the area. We've finally got around to having lunch on a Friday and wish we'd done it sooner. To start, we had complimentery arancini balls, they were bite sized but packed a flavour punch. One entree of bruschetta between three was simple but satisfying with sweetish tomatoes and a hint of balsamic vinegar on a toast which was crispy and not too filling. Mains consisted of the Friday lunchtime specials and we each had a favourite pasta. Gnocchi Portofino was mama's go to: she loved the larger sized gnocchis which melted in ones mouth, in a devine tomato sauce and the prawns tails cut off - a must. For moi it is Fettucini in a not too rich cream sauce done Alfredo with quality ingredients. The third was the Rigatoni Arrabiata with generous additions of prawns and mussels, loved by our acclaimed home cook. Rarely do we all have dessert, however we were so impressed with the menu we ordered Tiramisu, Mama missed some liquer being in there, however, still delicious. Sticky date pudding no complaints and a White Chocolate Pannacotta I found became more flavoursome as it rose in temperature. Our server, Anna, was very knowledgeable, quite affable and professional. We too will recommend La Vela and be sure to return to taste more of the...

Friday Lunch sitting at LaVela with a pram. Easy access, easy parking made for a good start. No music or ambiance to report, three or four other tables occupied, not very busy on this day. Service was suffice and we even received a surprise starter of mini aranchini.

Kids meals were promptly served and colouring in and kids drinks were on the servers mind. Very good kids menu too.

We went for the fresh oysters and prawns, we had been informed that garlic butter prawns were good here.

We give the prawn dish a 6/10, the butter was almost just melted butter, not enough love in this dish.

The muscles were delicious! Dish of the day! The tomato sauces here are KING! I would absolutely get another tomato based dish upon my next visit! And I will absolutely return.

Unfortunately Oysters weren’t going to be delivered until after the lunch service, so we missed out on those for lunch.

I would absolutely return, I actually got myself some Arancini mini and main to take away they were made with love! Very yummy!

I would love to see some music playing and more atmosphere for me to truly love the experience, but this was a lovely way to spend a...
