The lemongrass beef didn't have any discernable lemongrass flavour, and both it and the roast pork Banh Mi were a little on the sweet side. Not one of the better Banh Mi's I've had, sorry. Also, the restaurant was a little too warm and stuffy even with the door open on a cold day, I eventually had to get some fresh air outside. This place is small with limited seating but note there is a park diagonally opposite - you could take away and then have a picnic. Pricing was fine. Service was decent as well. Menu had limited variety but it covers off most of the popular Vietnamese dishes. Can't comment on the homemade milkshakes, iced teas and Vietnamese coffee as I didn't try any.
I normally wouldn't have reviewed this place, but they did ask us for a review. Constructively, what I like about Vietnamese food is the freshness and crispness of the flavours, which were sadly hidden behind the sweetness of the sauce. Also, doing your smoking or steaming in a part of the kitchen with a proper extraction hood would probably contribute to fresher air inside the dining space (although I admit we were a lot of people around a relatively small table). Those changes would likely gain another...
Read moreThis is our local Vietnamese eatery, and to be honest we are very spoilt to live so close to such a quality Vietnamese cafe. My partner and I always dine in to the small shop which is a little dated and may not seem the most appealing in decor, however we continuously go back as the quality of the food is amazing! We tend to shy away from the most commonly ordered Vietnamese dishes such as pho or Bahn mi (however we have had the crispy pork Bahn mi from here and it is most certainly worth the hype!) and order the bun bo hue- a spicy beef and pork noodle soup that is so full of flavour and is so delicious that we rarely order anything else! Customer service is also top tier which in my opinion is very important when visiting a local eatery often. This one is definitely note worthy nestled in the Kalamunda hills and is a rare gem worth exploring for Vietnamese food lovers everywhere! Additionally as a side note, the Springs rolls are delicate and delicious and different from the traditional springs rolls you would find elsewhere. If you are ever in Kalamunda and find yourself craving Vietnamese - please visit Viet Yummy, you will not be...
Read moreIt's in the name... Yummy! I eat here on a regular basis, it's actually my favourite spot in kalamunda. They are quick, and good with customer service. I've never had any bad service here.
I have tried quite a few things and not been disappointed, my go to though is the spicy beef & pork noodle soup (bun bo hou) it's super flavoursome and full of meats, noodles, Coriander, Chilly, Lettuce, spring onion, onion and bean Sprouts. I also like they're crispy pork bahn mi, I think its the best.
Im happy they are up in the hills because the food they offer is very warm and comforting, the Cafe is a cute little vibe and everything is served in this huge bowls so you can slurp your noodles to your hearts content!
I recently tried they're new chicken wings, which were nice and caramelised with a sweet juicy marinade that had red onion in it. Will definitely be having these again with they're veitnamese pork roll meat. Keep up the good work guys, your doing well 😊 Sorry I don't have any photos I ate into it before writing...
