Totally arrogant front of house staff - issues with reservation - opinionated and disinterested young desk attendant - manager was aggressive and we left without being seated - we WERE long term fans of the vault and indeed recommended it to friends - but we will not return to or recommend this restaurant ever !
UPDATE:
Loved the response from the Vault - i guess treating long term returning customers with respect and courtesy involves a manager getting up in your personal space and a accusing you of being aggressive, when you have not even raised your voice - let alone sworn. ( I wish I did though).
The manager then basically would not leave us alone as we were trying to leave the restaurant, which by looking at all the empty tables without reserved signs, was far from fully booked.
Bullying behaviour is not acceptable at any level - let alone in a family style venue. It is a shame when a customer that is making a legitimate and rational complaint, is then hit with a barrage of aggressive behaviour and gas lighted.
As a point of reference = my wife made an online reservation mid morning for 6 pm - we arrived at the restaurant at 6 pm only to be told fairly abrasively that there was no reservation. The restaurant was basically empty and not a single effort was made to seat us. Around 9 pm the restaurant probably realised their mistake after they looked at the their system and emailed us saying that the booking could not be made. A little late one would say, given that we were there 3 hours previous. Fairly obvious that the restaurant dropped the ball here and was trying to cover their tracks.
Got a real laugh when I read their response as they couldn’t even spell the word courtesy correctly -...
Read moreMy wife and I went to dinner here last night and it was fantastic! I had the crispy squid for entree and the chilli mussels for main and WOW, not only were they both huge portions but totally delicious. My wife was equally impressed with her order of arancini balls for starter and carbonara for main. Service was fast and friendly and atmosphere was buzzing. So nice to have a new place to eat in Kalamunda, it is needed badly.
**Edit - we went a second time a few days ago and it was a disaster from beginning to end. The cocktails were weak and not made correctly. The chilli mussels were lovely, fresh and cooked beautifully but the broth was weak, watery and did not coat any of mussels therefore making the dish a bowl of steamed mussels. I had to dig through the steaming pile of dry seafood to get to the bottom and then try to toss it abit myself which is perilous in good cloths as you can imagine. Still no good, it was a travesty to waste all those mussels because there was no broth coating them. My wife’s chicken snitzel was over cooked and under seasoned and came with wedges instead of chips as advertised, apparently they had ran out... Fortunately the entrees were still good and took the edge off my appetite. The manager was receptive to our feedback and let’s hope it is relayed to the bar and kitchen staff. We might give it another go one day but consistentsy is the key to keep me coming back so stay tuned for another...
Read moreThe old adage is true: first impressions count.
My husband and I came here for the first time and upon walking in I had thought, 'what lovely atmosphere'. But that was very quickly soured by the service of the waiters. We had waited over 30 mins for our food before we asked the waiter "Excuse me, just wondering if our food is coming soon?". The response we were provided: "Well you came in after all these people" (gesturing to many other tables still waiting for their food whilst giving us a 'smile'), and then walked away. We waited a further 15 minutes in utter shock that THAT was the response we received by this mature aged man that we decided to have our food to go (which still hadn't come out) because who wants to sit in a restaurant where service is not a priority. We went to the counter to request for our food to be taken away as we had to leave, making no complaints about the wait time OR the service that had left a bad taste in our mouths, and we were met with this response by a mature aged lady: "Well it's a Friday night, and you didn't tell us you were in a rush. So you know, waiting 30 mins has to be expected".
Apparently their staff have an ALL EXCUSES mentality.
P.s. Food was bland, threw the prawns out as they tasted questionable. Only thing good was the...
