Called in for a meal on the way back from viewing the Cable Beach sunset and finally thought we'd hit the jackpot. The waitress who greeted us was friendly and cheerful and promptly showed us to our seats. There was even full table service. Hallelujah. I thought this was non existent in Cable Beach, about as extinct as the dinosaurs that left there footprints in the surrounding rocks millions of years ago. How quickly you are bought back to earth and the reality of this entire Cable Beach precinct. I ordered a beer and after 10 or so minutes thought the bar staff were brewing it to order. Despite the bar staff just chatting amongst themselves, there appeared no rush in providing my beverage. It was only once I ankle tapped the waitress to remind her that drinks had been ordered that aforementioned refreshment was forth coming. We ordered a couple of dishes to share, the salt and pepper squid and chicken sliders. Does no-one in this place know how to season salt and pepper squid, sorry calamari, can't call it squid in this neck of the woods. It's either too salty or has no spicy pepper taste at all. In addition it was slightly undercooked, while on the other hand the chicken in the sliders was slightly overcooked. The chicken was dry and bordering on tough. Pity the time spent over cooking the chicken couldn't be given to the undercooked squid, sorry, calamari. Another establishment in Cable Beach that has done nothing to change my mind about the food service industry...

Fun Night Out We were a table of 8. We ordered a stack of food. The portions were generous and although not everything was to my specific taste, there was lots I did enjoy. The staff were super friendly and the service efficient. The stand out, however was how the staff went beyond in order to get 4 of the diners home. There is no public transport after 6:45 pm in Broome and it is impossible to call a cab for a pick up. They were flat out and we were told there was a 40+ minute wait. So what did the Zookepers staff do? First one of them rang different taxi companies for us. She tried and tried. And then, ultimately, another person said, don't worry, I will take you back to your hotel and he did! The restaurant still had lots of customers but he could see how stuck we were and he bundled everyone in his car and took them home. Another staff member said he is always helping everyone. How incredibly kind. So apart from the gorgeous surroundings of the restaurant, the wonderful variety of food, the many vegetarian choices, the cheerful, efficient staff, these people care. We love Zookeepers and thank them for taking such extraordinary care of...

What's annoying is that they do not serve alcohol unless you are seated. And to my asian friends, apparently is rude, according to my colleague, to put your hand up to notify to the waitress that you're ready to order because they will eventually come to take your order. Since this is probably australian or western culture I guess, I just can't understand how rude could that be because I'm not waving my hand or snapping my fingers or using my fingers and do the come here action. My colleague was shouting I want some beer so I thought I would raise my hand to let the waitress know we're ready to order. Much to my anger, one colleague said don't be rude and the other said Come Down. I'm was like (in my mind), okay try to apply this method in Asian countries and how rude is this way. Conclusion, if you are dining at a place like this then just wait unless you want to be called rude and uncivilized or something.

The food taste is okay. The special on that night was pasta or linguine. I ordered the seafood linguine which...

Stopped here for coffee 1/10/24. My other half is French and a pastry chef and gave the cinnamon scroll he ordered a 9/10, that's high praise from him. I decided to risk the cardamom scroll, I usually avoid cardamom sweets because I've always found them overly pungent and heavy handed on the cardamon but this one was delish, buttery, soft, orange zesty just 😋 . I gave mine 10/10. Now, this place may be the best Patisserie in Broome and better than most in Perth but it is pricey, be prepared to pay, the cinnamon scroll was 10$ and the cardamom scroll was 11$ and the coffees pictured $5.20 each. Seating is mostly outside, the tables inside are most bar stool type. The day we visited was hot and the inside was nice and cool. Service was exceptional, smiles all round, efficient, tables were cleaned quickly and hygienically. A lovely setting. Highly recommend a visit.

The new owners have simplified the breakfast menu a lot. Three main options for breakfast with an assortment of delicious pastries and drinks. coffee was good but the standout here are the staff. Very friendly, professional and helpful. When one of the tables caused a mishap resulting in me spilling a plate of food over my lap one of the lovely waiters sprang into action getting a cleaning cloth and then cleaning up the mess… she also ordered a new plate of food without me asking. The food (avocado egg flat wrap) was very good in flavour but a little difficult to eat because of the wrap thinness). The warm cinnamon scroll served with whipped butter was absolutely delicious. Well worth it to give this place a try. Sit outside in the cool and calm courtyard.

If you don’t mind standing in a queue for 20mins then getting to their pastries was worth it. Don’t bother with their cooked breakfast if you are on a budget. We paid $37 for the most expensive breakfast ever. Note: we do not mind paying for a good breakfast but this was ludicrous. 2 poached eggs, a slice of toast, 2 pieces of bacon and some mushrooms. See photo. If the owners could invest in more people taking orders (many were happy with take away) then it would be a much more enjoyable experience. On the day of our poor breakfast we waited 35 mins for our coffee. By that stage we had eaten our breakfast (which also took a tad long). In a nutshell- if you are willing to wait then the pastries are worth the wait.
