Dining out with friends is one of life’s little luxuries but we came away from the Wharf feeling like we had been metaphorically slapped in the face . Of our party of seven only two thought what they were served was acceptable . The writing was probably on the wall when 6 meals came out and the garlic prawns took an extra 15 minutes to get to the table . The garlic prawns is touted as one of their popular dishes however the order I got was hard overcooked prawns smothered in garlic salt and fried . Served on either chips or rice I chose rice . I don’t know why you would even offer rice (which was a cold hard dry lump ) when there is no sauce which I didn’t realise before ordering. So bad I could not eat more than 2 prawns . Two of our table ordered marron which was an interesting lesson in portion control . One came out with nice sized marron and 5 lemons pieces The other came out with what must have been the scrapings and 1 piece of lemon . The meals my husband and I got should have been sent back however because we didn’t want to upset our fellow diners my husband spoke to the restaurant manager on leaving personally . We then found out that 3 of our friends thought their meals were tasteless dry offerings as well. We are happy to pay for quality but the food was anything but . Thank god the wine was good . This restaurant gets good reviews and bad reviews and that alone is a worry because you just would not know what you will get served up to you...
Read moreAs a consumer, I've eaten at many great establishments. This is not one. This is the first time I was told by an unbelievably rude server that he was "100% sure I asked" for a dish that I did not order. I'm honestly not in the habit of ordering food I don't eat. I almost felt at the time of placing the order we were all totally inconveniencing him by being there, that he didn't listen, he was very unwelcoming. In fact, when he told me he was 100% sure I had ordered that (odd as I even read my choice directly from the menu, but it was my fault he didn't listen?!!) and I said not to worry, as everyone is nearly finished their meals and I've a grumpy toddler to get home just reimburse me, he threw the money on the counter saying "thank you" with such excessive rudeness to showcase of how dare I have questioned his absolute infallibility, I didn't even get an apology. Arrogant swine certainly comes to mind.
But we had the most lovely waitress and the doorman waiter that they really are the only ones carrying the place.
In regards to the other 4 meals, feedback is: over priced sardine serving of salmon (a joke on fish and chips), tasteless Thai bland chicken, Cantonese noodles were delicious as was seafood...
Read moreFirst, we were expecting table service and there wasn't. The girls at the till are answering at the phone, making drinks and taking orders at the same time, this makes everything a bit messy. Not really clear. Second, our entrees came all in different moment, especially the last one...which they forgot about. Third, I ordered grilled barramundi. I was expecting grilled barramundi. You know, that kind of grilled fish that doesn't have anything else than fish, a bit of oil, seasoning..and that it has been grilled on a grill..their grilled barramundi is not grilled. It looks like more pan fried than grilled. First it's covered in flour or cornflour as the mager told us (and it's not written on the menu), second it's not grilled but cooked on a hot plate and a bit oily. Now, the food was fine, nothing bad and nothing amazing and even the barramundi was fine. About the service, well..In general a bit messy and when we complained about the barramundi that wasn't grilled the manager act in an defensive way, which makes everyone a bit annoyed. We all have been working in kitchen and restaurants for ages. That fish wasn't grilled so stop saying it was. It wasn't so change your menu or find a better way to answer to a...
