Cable Beach Backpackers isn’t just a hostel, it’s a place that makes you want to stay longer than you planned. Some places hook you with the location – others with the people. This one does both. It’s clean. Shockingly clean for a backpackers' joint. The pool is actually swimmable. The weightlifting gym is legit – and there’s a bar and book station for when you want a break from the sun. Everything here feels intentional, not just thrown together. Like someone actually cared when they built the place. Then there’s Dani and Yann – the front-of-house duo who run the show with that perfect mix of laid-back ease and ‘we’ll make it happen’ attitude. They’re the reason your wildest, most outlandish requests somehow get accommodated – and why you feel like you’ve walked into a place that knows exactly how to make you feel at home. Broome has a way of pulling people in – Cable Beach Backpackers makes sure you don’t mind.

The pricing is very random and sort of a lottery inbetween guests sompay less for a room with AC than others do for a room with more beds and no AC. It’s all down to luck. But you can find a fairly good price if you’re on a budget and the rooms are good with comfortable beds. The place is however very dirty! There are cleaners running around durning mornings but they don’t seem to do anything. I’ve been watching the same filth and spots in the bathroom for weeks that still havn’t been removed. The ”cleaners” have no sense of privacy and will bash your door and storm into your room EVERY MORNING only to empty your already mostly empty bin, no matter if you say no thank you to ”roomservice”. There is constantly loud music in the kitchen/diningarea which makes it impossible to enjoy a meal at any time of the day. Forgett about sleepins and clean facillities and you might get your money value out of this place.

I stayed here and the place itself was nice, the managers treated everyone unfairly with favouritism. Kicking people out and banning them for things everyone else was doing. The kitchen was closed from 10pm which made it difficult if u worked late as you could not eat. They now give you free beers if you leave a good review so don’t trust them :)

TLDR: seems to be popular with long-stayers. Don’t expect help with issues unless on first-name basis with management, the rooms are “too cheap” for that.||||The thought behind the poor rating is that had there been no issues during my stay, I would have rated the place as average, and had my issue been dealt with differently I would have given the place a good rating. However, such is not the case.||||The rooms are as expected from the very low price, it’s just two bunk-beds in a small blue room. I had no issue with this since I tend to not spend much time in the hotel anyway. ||||When I arrived, however, I soon met two girls who informed me that they weren’t staying in my room, in which four girls including me were staying, but they were going to move in soon and were for now just keeping their stuff in the room. I didn’t want to make a fuss, so I didn’t bring it up with management at first.||||It did however bother me, because this meant that it wasn’t just four people coming and going in the room, sometimes very late, but six. I felt that paying full price for a room with two extra people in there hardly seemed fair, and so I told management. ||||Management’s response was to huff that I hadn’t brought it up sooner, and then go looking for the other girls staying in my room to ask them about it. When they couldn’t find them they informed me that they would look into it and get back to me the next day.||||I was checking out the next day but that morning they still hadn’t spoken to the other girls (not sure why that had to be done first 🤷‍♀️). I left my bag behind reception to come get later and told them I’d be back at around 5pm. When I got back the person I had spoken to wasn’t there, but the person in reception told me that I would not receive any compensation because: I had already payed, the room was really cheap, and they couldn’t control if the girls did this kind of thing. I didn’t argue, because it was clearly not there decision to change.||||The fact that I had payed is irrelevant, and for a hotel to not be able to control how their rooms are used is worrying. As for the fact that the rooms are cheap, yes, for a four-bed dorm. I didn’t stay in a four-bed dorm however, but a four-bed dorm also used as a storage unit. ||||I would like to add that the vibe here is very much that everyone stays for a long-time, so the staff and guests are close and seem to be friends. Perhaps the service is better once you get on a first-name basis with management.||||The pool area is very nice and the toilets are mostly clean. I didn’t use the kitchen so I can’t say...

It was an ok hostel as far as any hostel goes, nice hammocks, pool and free bbq the night we arrived, quite nice and friendly guests. However wifi was ok, but doesn't reach all rooms. All the rooms are located around the reception common area so if someone is upp partying you'll DEFINITELY hear them from your room and no one seemed to make an effort in trying to make people keep it down.||If you need wifi to call someone or watch a movie it's a bit annoying as you have to sit in the common area to have wifi, which unfortunately means you'll be disturbed both by people chatting and by reception BLASTING music (not necessarily good music either). You can use their tv to watch netflix and movies which WOULD be cool, but again this is located right between the bar/reception and the common area. So again, you wont hear anything.||||As far as service goes they weren't rude, but not friendly. Clear that it is people who live there who just work in reception which leads to more "we are nice to our friends"-sorta thing, which I think is unprofessional. Time and time again I would either feel like I interrupted the staff when they had a convo with their friend and felt like an inconvenience or was myself interrupted while they were checking me out while also checking someone else in simultaneously. When I went to pay with cash one night I was told the girl had already cashed up and would have to pay by card eventhough there is a cardfee AND they were still open to sell drinks. Just seems dumb. But I agreed because I didn't want to make a fuss only to see the staff let her friend pay for a drink with cash just a second later. Rude!!||||Kitchen closed at 10pm which is fair, however that just meant that you can't reach ANYTHING you want even cold after 10pm (no cold drinks as the bar closes then as well) as well as you can't get boiled water OR regular tapwater unless you want to make a mess in the bathroom sinks. Quite inconvenient.||||To top everything off we were told this hostel is more pricey as they are "a better hostel than the others" - what a joke. We are now staying at the yha which has the same things only better, for less money!||||Also Cable beach hostel has a bad location with an HOUR walk to the towncenter. Only stay here if you are so in love with the beach that you would rather take the bus into town than to...

I spent two weeks at this hostel, the first of which was booked online at $25 a night for a bed. As my friend and I found ourselves staying in Broome longer for work, we booked the room for another week at the front desk, where we also visibly signed up for long term accommodation in their air conditioned rooms in front of one of the workers. He also mentioned a discounted room rate to us, which we questioned in response, knowing we didn't pay that low of a price the first week. He retracted his statement, we didn't think much of it and paid the same price for week two. We discovered a place that was only $15 more a night with nicer amenities and air con down the street and figured for our long term stay we should move there. The night before we left we found out the two girls we were sharing a room with- also there for a long term stay, were paying LESS than us a week. HOW is that at all fair? When we checked out the following morning we were passed on to the owner who rudely informed us we would have had to be on the long term list (we were) to be charged a long term rate. She shrugged us off, seemed to barely listen to our concerns, and basically laughed in our face when we told her where we were moving to. In the end we didn't get our money back, but I would never recommend this hostel after the way the situation was handled. Their loss- losing 3 months worth of business, had we known the weekly rate was much cheaper we would have stayed. On top of all this the overall cleanliness is poor, the rooms are small, and the kitchen is over crowded. When you come to Broome- look into other places, like...
