Grill'd Wollongong — Restaurant in Wollongong City Council

I love grilld, and hadn't been to the Wollongong restaurant in over a year so was very excited to get delivery with menulog last Saturday night. I have been vego for 5 years and LOVE the Impossibly simply grilld, so I ordered that. My friend also ordered the vegan cheeseburger and others had a couple of meat burgers.

Unfortunately, I was not sitting next to my vegan friend so did not compare my pattie and hers, however as soon as bit into mine I knew it tasted very meaty, I got my husband to try it and it was most definitely beef. We then compared the vegan cheeseburger pattie to mine and it was clearly beef vs vegan.

We called the restaurant, because this also happened to my friend in the past and it actually made her very unwell. However after many questions, having to prove our order and repeat ourselves we were asked to make a complaint through menulog.

Menulog didn't make the burgers, Grill'd restaurants recieve the order via menulog and so it it was correct on our end then it was the burger makers mistake. I am very disappointed, it was $16 for a plant based burger and I received a beef burger. The least they could do would be admit the...

Friendly staff that made sure we checked in and checked our vaccination status. We all got vegan beyond burgers, which are apparently leaving the menu soon, but they were very nice. The garden salad beyond burger looked exactly as you would expect it to look in an advert. The atmosphere where we sat outside was nice. Not very busy at 8pm, but the music they had on was enjoyable.

I ordered a corona as well and they kindly put a lime wedge in. The zucchini chips were as always, delicious. I just wish they had some more vegan dips, the tomato relish and vegan mayo will have to do for now. It is expensive, but that's something you should be prepared for going in, I won't take a star off for that. The burgers aren't huge either, but they are good burgers with quality ingredients. This time was not up to their normal standard, sorry to say. We were looking forward to eating there and getting our usual tasty favourites. That disappointment falls directly to the kitchen staff. The meat pattie was well overcooked with the wrong sauce, felt like it was a re-fry from a previous order bungle, my salad had a clump of brown avocado mush on top and chicken pieces that were more like bits of dry leather.... UNSEASONED! We'd like to know what happened to the chips, not all arrived to the table, the cup was missing a few. So we left disappointed, striking them from our Go-To list. What was missing from them today was quality control and standard checker staff. Perhaps the manager should have been doing that instead of unpacking boxes in the middle of the restaurant, in the middle of lunch service....
