Met a friend there for lunch. He ordered a main as did I and we shared a serve of spicy KFC (Korean fried chicken). I wanted a wine with lunch. I was told there are no options for a glass of wine, only a full bottle so I did without as I was driving and it was the middle of the day. We were presented some kimchee and other morsels including Korean potatoes. Oddly the potatoes were served refrigerator cold not the usual hot as I only ever had before. After a wait of 10 minutes or so my friend was served his meal. Spicy beef soup which was extremely hot (temperature not spice level). About 10-15 minutes later the shared dish KFC was presented and after another 10 minutes or more my dish turned up. It was a bibimbap. It was predominantly cold other than the cast iron bowl it was served in which was enormously hot. The heat didn’t diffuse through the rest of the dish if that was the purpose of the unreasonably hot bowl as everything in contact with the bowl over cooked and insulated the rest. To top it off when we went to pay the waitress refused to take payment from both of us and would only accept a single payment. There were no signs in the restaurant nor on the menu to indicate a split bill wasn’t acceptable to them. Overall not a good experience. Though the KFC...

If you want to experience the thrill of having your food taken away by restaurant staff without any explanation in the middle of your meal, you should definitely try dining here.

Looking for a place where you can witness the culinary masterpiece prepared by the chef and hear the bell ring twice to signify that your food is ready, only to be ignored by the staff who are busy staring at his phones for over a minute? Come to Hanok restaurant! They promise to give you an unforgettable experience of being completely neglected while your food gets cold.

Looking to experience what it's like to be the only table in the restaurant without any side dishes or water, even though all the latecomers have already received theirs? (there are only two groups of customers) Wait until your main course arrives, and they'll finally remember to serve you some side dishes. And don't worry, they'll make sure to ask if you need water only after you've been eating for 20 minutes.

Looking for that extra special dining experience on a public holiday? Come to Hanok restaurant and enjoy their 'surcharge'! Because why should you have a normal meal when you can pay more for the privilege of...

A couple of years ago, we tried to visit this restaurant right at opening time (around 5:00 PM—I can't remember the exact time, but we arrived as soon as Google showed they were open). We asked for a table but were told they were fully booked. We even offered to eat quickly and leave, but unfortunately, they still couldn’t accommodate us. There wasn’t a welcoming response or a suggestion to book for another time, nor were we offered an alternative timeslot. We left feeling a bit disappointed and puzzled, but since we aren’t local to Wollongong, we didn’t have another opportunity to visit.

Two years later, we finally made it back to Wollongong and decided to give the restaurant another try. This time, it was a quiet weekday in winter, so we walked in without a reservation—and we’re so glad we did! We really enjoyed our meal. The side dishes were delicious, and the portions for dishes like the kimchi soup and seafood pancake were generous. In fact, the two of us couldn’t finish everything and actually ordered too much, so we ended up taking some food back to our hotel.

We’d love to return again if we...

Went there for lunch with my daughter. The place seemed clean and staff friendly. We did have to ask for a fork and they brought us tongs after struggling for a while to cook the meat with chopsticks. The family near us also had to ask for tongs. The staff were happy to answer our questions about meat. The food came out very quickly. The food was nice and filling, although we did not like all of the little dishes the meat came with. We did order two serves of rice which filled us up. To do the bbq you have to order two serves of protein which sucked as the two of us didn't want to eat that much meat. I made my daughter eat lots so I didn't have to cook her dinner. We didn't book and the restaurant wasn't that busy.
