Horribly rude server (at lunch time, lady with long brown hair). No hello, no thank you, or goodbye. Any question you ask (like “can I pay by card?”) she answers with “I don’t understand why you’re asking me this” and “it’s obvious, why are you asking this question” (so she clearly understands basic English). Strangely enough when a German speaker asks the exact same question she answers politely with a big smile. This is a ski resort, so tourists with limited knowledge of German (even though we did make an effort) will inevitably visit, and hope to feel welcome. Second day in a row that I am treated this way. Cafe Gotthard - Backstube became our go-to breakfast spot before hitting the slopes in Lech, and it didn’t disappoint! The warm and welcoming staff made every visit a pleasure.

Their sandwiches were fresh and delicious, with decent vegetarian options that were a delightful find. The Chococcino and Cappuccino deserve a special mention.

The café opens early, making it the best option around for a quick bite before heading out.

The baked goods were good - not great. Same for the coffee. The place was packed, which is a good sign. But what I found terrible was the frigid, indifferent, nigh-condescending service of this unfeeling staff. Polite - yes. Attentive -no.
