An exceptional hotel in Lech - the reviews on Tripadvisor are spot on. The first thing that catches the eye is how absolutely clean and in excellent condition everything is, perhaps in part due to recent work and renovations but primarily because the team seems to take such good care of the facility.||The brand new sitting room/bar is lovely and successfully blends the traditional chalet look with a more updated vibe. The spa also is completely new, with an attractive "vitality" pool (i.e., a pool with some jacuzzi jets and lights that change color), a sauna room with three private sauna suites and four relaxation alcoves. The primary dining room is white table cloth and attractive, with a small buffet area. Finally, the small lobby area is bright and attractive, with a large touch screen on which useful information can be obtained (such as the local ski map).||ROOM: We stayed in room 10, a deluxe junior suite on the fourth of five floors. This room must have been just newly refinished as it was pristine (even the grouting in the bathroom was immaculate). The room consists of a primary bedroom and, separated by sliding doors, a sitting room with two couches that easily convert into double beds. There is also a nice balcony and a spacious bathroom (this room has shower only). Having caught glimpses of a few other rooms, they seem to vary somewhat in layout and decoration, but each room looked to be in tip top shape.||FOOD: If I were to have a beef with the hotel, it would be with the food. Not because it wasn't well prepared and interesting - it was both - but because I just don't want to eat fancy, soft food night after night (so many reductions and gelatines and steamed vegetables) - it just felt at times like there was nothing for the teeth to grab on to. Worth noting that you could skip a dinner at the hotel and instead eat at one of the restaurants in the town, though of course that might not be desired by all members of your group - some might wish to eat at the hotel on any given night while others would wish a hearty stew!||To satisfy everyone, it would be worth considering if, in addition to the two primary entree options offered each night, there might be a third more casual option (pasta bolognese, veal parmesan, small steak) with more home-style cooking than gourmet. It might also be nice to have two really excellent appetizers instead of three small ones and a salad and then soup each night. These are really minor gripes and reflect more my personal preference for hearty food over gourmet food every night, so you might find this perfect if you are looking for night after night of fancy food.||The breakfasts, on the other hand, were much more to my style. In addition to the fairly traditional buffet with various breads, salami, cheeses, muesli, fruit and the like, there is a nice menu from which you can select eggs, waffles and other cooked-to-order items. It was a very nice breakfast and basically enabled us to spend the day without any need for lunch whatsoever!||On another plus side, the hotel did make an exceptional fondue for us one night at our request (for a small upcharge). Truly scrumptious!||SPA: The abovementioned vitality pool was very enjoyable - not a hot tub but rather a tepid small pool with jacuzzi jets in a few spots and lighting that cycled through different colors. A pretty relaxing setting and good for releasing tension in the body after a day of skiing. Large enough for two families/couples to enjoy at the same time, though we saw people just wait until the previous group was finished.||The pool is next to a relaxation room with four comfortable alcoves in which two or three people can relax and drink a tea. It did get a bit crowded in the spa at times as there are 26 hotel rooms and, as most everyone is coming off the slopes at about the same time, a number of said people want to use the spa at the same time - so perhaps a few relaxation alcoves short of ideal (we saw a few couples trying to relax on chairs but they gave up on that quickly). Just a reality to be aware of.||Next to this room there is a goodly sized sauna area, with showers and separate rooms for saunas (one wet and two dry we believe). The saunas were nice, particularly if you like privacy in the sauna instead of being in a large, everyone welcome sauna room. Please do keep in mind that this is a nudity-forward place and so much flesh might be parading about from time to time.||SERVICE: This is where this hotel really shines, with a great team who seem to be well-trained by the omnipresent owners. Every staff member we interacted with was very capable and some were even quite solicitous and eager to please. Special shot outs for the highly capable Felix, the friendly Ollie, the effervescent Maria and the eager-to-please Marcell. The front desk staff were also routinely helpful and clear the room cleaning staff does their thing quite well. We very much enjoyed the mix of high-quality service while retaining a friendly demeanor instead of being formal. The team seems to enjoy working at this hotel, some coming back for multiple seasons, and so that likely means that the owners treat them well.||Very highly...

Read moreWe're regularly in Lech, and so the Haldenhof, for winter skiing, so it was good to visit in the summer. The hotel didn't disappoint. Our room was immaculate, as ever, with a balcony open to amazing views of the Ormshorn and valley to Zug. Perhaps, best of all, was the small and beautiful garden. Normally snow covered in winter it was a picture of flowers, both planted and in pots, and had so many places to sit for drinks, both sunny and shaded. On warm nights dinner could be served outside for a few tables. The staff are always so welcoming and helpful. We'd asked for concert tickets to the Lech Classical music festival and these were secured for each of our requested concerts in excellent locations. Food is always a star here: and Chef Tobi did not disappoint. The lamb stands out as an amazing dish, but nothing wasn't beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. Service is really professional and friendly. With so much Austrian wine available, it would be rude not to indulge! Claudia and Michael work so hard to ensure everything runs smoothly.... even the weather...
