I don't often give poor reviews but the rude, poor service of the older grey haired waiter made me want to post a warning. The food looked delicious and we were looking forward to eating there, unfortunately we never got the chance. We arrived and assumed we sat ourselves, there was no sign indicating "wait to be seated " and the waiter seemed really busy so we sat at a table that did NOT have a reserved sign on it. We were there for about 10 minutes, being ignored by the older grey haired waiter, when the bar tender came out and gave us menus to look at. When the grey haired waiter finally came, he extremely, rudely told us the table was reserved, we said there was no sign at the table like the other tables had and we apologized and were more than happy to move to another table. He then said it was no longer needed as the group that reserved it were already sitting somewhere else??? Oook. He asked to take our drink order, my wife and daughter wanted the seasonal lemonade and asked what the flavours were, instead of listing them off, with a huge attitude I have never experienced before in a restaurant, he rudely proceeded to point to the board inside with the flavours listed. He took our drink orders without another word. The bartender brought out our drinks and the waiting game began. The grey haired waiter served others, cleared tables, brought out drink orders and food for other tables, ignoring us the entire time. We saw others that sat after us eat, pay and leave. The grey haired waiter would not make eye contact with us. At the 35 minute point the bartender came out and said sorry but the waiter is the one who takes the orders, we asked if we could just pay for our drinks. the bartender talked to the grey haired waiter and he finally came over. He said the bill was 51 Euros, we were a little shocked that an iced tea, 2 still waters and 2 lemonades cost that much, he looked again and found the proper bill. We said no worries, thanked him and left in disbelief. We travel a couple of times a year and as Canadians we have never been treated this way before, it was a huge shock, that someone would act this way to anyone. I am not sure if this older grey haired waiter thought we were American or just disliked people who speak English but it was extremely unprofessional. So if you are going to this restaurant and you see this fellow and you want to eat there, all I can say is, wait to be seated, look at all the boards for specials that aren't on the menu and maybe...
Read moreIt is half bar, half restaurant, offering plenty of options, especially for vegetarians. The food is ok, some of the Tel Aviv plate snacks were half warm for me, but in general it is too expensive considering the appearance of the place, its location and vibe. Sitting on a bench without a backrest and paying 20e for a simple vegetarian dish strikes me as an odd combination. I will return to try the lunch options, which seem to be reasonably priced for all the students in the area.
Edit: That's true that single vegetarian dish is not 25, more 15-20, my bad. It was 25 with additional hummus. Still too much for what and where is served, just in my opinion. Just not a 5 star restaurant, reporting reasonable reviews to Google will not...
Read moreThe garden outside reminds of a "seaside" place, although it is placed in an austrian city. Beers, cocktails and homemade lemonades are served in this relaxing environment between palms and other plants. They have a cool list of food, with dishes that you don't usually find in Salzburg, like for example the "craw fish pie", which are tasty, although the presentation can be improved (nothing dramatic, though). The only down were the desserts, which were not as good as the main courses, despite some nice ideas (the cheesecake in a glass, for example). Overall a nice place for a relaxing...
