ended up asking for the check after the starter, because the mixed appetizer plate was less than mediocre. the smoked salmon was coated with store-bought sweet-chili sauce, the octopus came pickled in oil, and the sardines pickled in vinegar - way too sour. i did not like neither. there was one piece of raw tuna, also with sauce on top, that tasted quite well. the wine was good, although it came without complementary tap water. when i asked, if we could also have some water with the wine, we were served bottled water, even though that is not customary in Salzburg at all and the table next to mine enjoyed a nice glass bottle of tapped water with their wine. the restaurant did not accept vouchers from a website it was registered with, bc "he (the owner) did not know how to redeem them" and neither accepted payment via card. i had to pick up cash from a cash mashine nearby. also the service was so much too slow. at least, as our order for the main course was not taken until 15 min. after we finished the starter, i did not eat a main course there the point is, if you must go there, at least don't order the mixed starters plate and don't expect...
Read moreMy husband and I went here on the recommendation of a good friend back home in San Francisco. The restaurant is a cozy place and look inviting. We arrived early not realizing restaurant opens at 6 pm for dinner. It was cold and raining and the restaurant personnel knew we were outside waiting and yet did not offer us anything, no menu, no offer of wine or no offer to sit inside where it is warm and dry. A little past 6, we walk into restaurant and they acted we were not even there. They treated us if we cannot afford to eat there. Once seated, they offer very little help with the menu and did not offer any suggestions. The food arrived, was good enough but on a salty side. When the bill arrived, there was a small charge for tap water, but the big surprise was that they wouldn't take a credit card even though the visa and mastercard logos appeared on their door. They said their credit card machine was broken but did not tell us until we tried to pay. Overall, it seems they really did not want us...
Read moreGot ripped off by false statements of the waiter. The waiter was friendly and helpful with explaining and suggesting. We wanted to share a medium soup because we were not too hungry, two small ones would probably be too much if we have a main course afterwards. The main course would be one big fish for 2 persons.
So the waiter said it was ok but he would put it in two bowls so it is easier for us to share. He told us the price for the big fish would be 19 euro per person (38 Euro total). When the soup was served he said he would bring the bread, since he immediately offered we were assuming it was complementary with the soup. There was a lot of fish in the soup and the main course was delicious.
But at checkout we discovered we were charged with 2 small soups instead of one medium, extra charge for the bread and the fish main dish was 46 euro instead of...
