Dinner for two on 26/5/22
Excellent and imaginative kosher meat restaurant, in the same block as the Stadttempel and the Vienna Jewish Community offices in the old town.
My wife had a nicely tender schnitzel dressed with kibbled onions and potatoes on the side. I had a goulash dish that came with a spicy sausage, two pickles and a fried egg and a small amount of knockl on the side.
Well-presented and friendly. Menu in German and English. I believe this is the only kosher restaurant in the old town. It’s clearly intentionally close to the core institutions of the Jewish community and presents itself as such. But it is well worth this self-image and should be your priority visit for a kosher meat evening meal while in Vienna.
I believe it may be possible to precook Shabbat meals, but have not tried to do so, so please don’t accept this...
Read moreThis is one of the best kosher restaurants in Europe that we have visited! The food tastes homemade, the portions are enormous (one main course is plenty for 2 people) and the waiters and owner are very hospitable. We dined here twice - once on a weekday and once on Friday evening. We recommend the chicken soup, goulash and shnizl for a weekday meal. We also ate here for a Shabbat meal which was a great experience - starting with a large variety of salads and delicious hallah+wine, continuing with soup and a first course of fish, then a main course and ending with dessert (too much food!). During the meal, the owner offered shnapps and vodka and in general there was a friendly atmosphere among the staff and the customers. Definitely a place worth...
Read moreEvery time we visited Vienna we had at least one meal there. We even told our friends about the place especially those who keep Kosher. Last night we dropped by, the security staff were extremely nice and polite but the manager was SO RUDE and impolite … NOT only not allowing us in but refusing to acknowledge that we even had the right to order a Take Away food. We understand how the international situation is, but to treat non Jewish people as enemies is very NON-Jewish. We lived all our lives around Jewish people even Orthodox Jewish … always helpful and nice. This is the WORST I’ve ever been treated, especially by a restaurant operator that’s open...
