We had a wonderful stay at this adorable hotel. Check in was a breeze. We were traveling as a family of 4 -- 2 parents and 2 20s/late teens kids. We stayed in a two-room suite, which was perfect. The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. The hotel's included breakfast was awesome and a great way to start each day of our stay. Note that the hotel's elevator is tiny, so we had to go up in shifts, or use the stairs. I tended to take the elevator up and the stairs on the way down. This wasn't a problem, but it's a good thing to know before you book. ||I would give this hotel 5 stars, but I took off a star for three reasons:||1. It took forever for the shower water to get hot. We had to turn the knob to the hottest setting, wait a while, and then regulate the temperature once the hot water made it to the shower. That was frustrating. Also, the hotel provides shampoo and body wash but no hair conditioner. ||2. With our room we were provided 1 old-school key with a giant keychain that had the hotel's name and room number on it. That is a huge security issue. If I were a woman traveling solo (which I often am for work), that would make me not stay here.||3. Our room could only lock with the key -- from both inside and outside. This is a fire hazard. It also was a problem when 3 of us left the room, and 1 stayed behind. Because we only had one key (and apparently, there is only one key), we had to leave him with the key, and he had to lock it from the inside. He then had to lock the room and bring the key with him when he left to meet us later in the day. ||I thought this hotel was super cute, and we had a good stay there. But the issues with the key might keep me from booking again if we have the opportunity to go...
Read moreWhat an amazing find in the heart of Vienna Austria. . A boutique hotel with location location and excellent good old fashion service. The hotel and its staff members ooze personality. Unlike chain hotels you feel valued and appreciated and no request is too much trouble for any of the staff members. The communication from start to finish from the hotel concierge was exact and in fact I would go as far as to say better than ever expected in todays digital world and that’s because you are dealing with faces and humans and not computers and robots at Hotel Karntenhorf. The breakfast was simply amazing, the ladies cook all of the bread and treats and to say it’s world class is most definite (not extensive) but absolute quality all served with smiles. The breakfast ladies were so welcoming and generous. My room was for a 1 person traveller and it was the perfect size enough space for 2 large suitcases and me and a lovely chair, desk etc. the room was spotlessly clean and well maintained on a daily basis. The hotel is beautiful in its old world charm decoration and the lift is to say the least beautiful old world. Overall 6 stars for Hotel Karntenhof and its staff members , I can’t speak more highly of the hotel and I would now say probably the best European hotel I have...
Read moreWe chose Hotel Kärntnerhof based on the glowing reviews on TripAdvisor, but unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations. We were hoping for charming old Viennese decor with an upmarket feel, but instead, we found the hotel in need of a complete refurbishment—especially the rooms.||The decor was very tired and dated, and the bathroom was particularly in need of an update. To make matters worse, there was no hot water in the mornings, likely due to everyone using it at the same time. The walls were paper thin, and we could hear everything from the room next door, making it hard to relax. The floor at the entrance to our room was in poor condition, and while the bed itself was fairly comfortable, the pillows were lumpy and odd.||On a positive note, the location is good, and the breakfast was reasonably decent, but nothing exceptional. Overall, this hotel did not offer good value for money, and we left feeling quite disappointed. We really don’t understand why most reviews are so positive—unless we were just unlucky with our room.||Unless significant renovations are made, I wouldn’t...
