First: The food was nice and what you'd expect, a bit touristy but tasty. The location is very nice and convenient. But the service, let me tell you:

We had the misfortune to get the server that someone must have forced to work there. If you don't speak German don't expect to get nice service. Our waiter reminded me of the stone men statues of Easter Island, he had the same personality and hospitality as one of them at least.

Trying to order he spoke no English and seemed to understand very little of it. Fair enough, body language should do it. Luckily my partner speaks a bit more German than me as well. Still a rude stone server. We got through the ordering and he ran away to fix it. Coming with our drinks he asked it like a question when he said my preferred drink was not available and if a cherry lemonade would work instead. He worded it as a question but his face and the fact he left our table before we had time to react and answer showed us it was not a question, he had already decided it would have to work for us.

When it comes to paying for your food, low and behold, stone face did a magical crash course in English and made sure to both understand the customers and be understood by them. All of a sudden English was not a problem. He did however add a little extra on top of our bill for him self or he charged us for my original drink order while bringing out the cheaper drink he had decided we should settle with.

Go and eat there but make sure to not be served by the stone man server from...

Food was bad and overpriced, but that's not the worse. Waiter did not let us pay by card, we could not understand why but we did not make trouble about it; we then paid by cash. The waiter did not show an invoice at my request. I asked him to bring me one, he then took the money and disappeared for 20 minutes. I stood up and searched for him, but hopelessly. I asked his colleagues what what was wrong with him, they obviously came up with excuses. I had to wait 15 more minutes, and they did not let me speak with a manager (which I could not identify myself in the place anyway); finally I got my receipt (he claimed to be in the toilet, which by the way it is not a good excuse not to have my invoice in time, or ask a colleague of his to bring me); it looked rather pretty obvious to me that the waiter wanted to get black money not registering it at the cashier. Had half an hour of my life wasted, and everything else (location, food, service) was pretty bad, anyway. Will not go back and...

What a horrible experience. I ordered schnitzel because many other things they said they didn't have any more of... ok.. so fine, how bad can a schnitzel with rice be? They brought a plate with 2 very small pieces of schnitzel like the ones you get from Hofer, thrown on top of some very dry rice which was in large clumps (I had to use a knife to cut it) and it was VERY salty... I am not a cow! It was like yesterday's leftover rice and cheap Hofer-style deep-fried Schnitzel for 18 euros?! The lemonade was nice at least. The waitress was sort of nice but ignored us for 10 minutes as we tried to pay, then got offended when we finally got her attention. The atmosphere feels like an expensive place, but then you get that horrible food and realize they spent all the money on decoration but forgot to hire...

The cafe is located in the park, the tables are under the trees. We saw that there were many locals sitting at the tables. This is a good criterion for a restaurant! We decided to order and did not regret it. The portions are large, the prices are humane for Vienna. The strudel was swimming in vanilla cream🤗

Dennoch - wirklich wirklich letztklassiges Schnitzel :/
