So we made a reservation for 2 persons a couple days ahead, for my wife’s 30th birthday dinner. We arrived exactly on time at the restaurant, hoping to eat some warm pho soon, as it was a very cold and windy night outside. Anyhow, as we arrived I asked the owner of the business for our reservation, then we were told to wait for 5-10 minutes outside the restaurant, which is understandable, having a small wait is fine. After patiently waiting for 15 minutes, without being offered any kind of tea or anything as a gesture, that they are sorry that we have to wait in the cold, several people have walked in and out the restaurant, some leaving and some arriving.
More time passed. We were freezing outside, being kept in the cold like stray dogs!
After a total of 30 minutes, a waiter came out and asked if we wanted a tea, which turned out to be a tasteless water - also saying that they are sorry for keeping us waiting. At that point is was enough, we waited for more there 35 minutes in the cold, on a very windy night in vienna! So we left and went looking for a place that can actually serve their customers, and doesn’t treat them in such a ridiculously rude and respectless manner.
Don’t go there, especially if you’re hungry and don’t want to be kept waiting outside in the cold like dogs for 35+ minutes. What a terrible experience this was, also as it was for my wife’s 30th birthday… this situation could have been easily avoidable, if the restaurant was able to manage those couple tables that they have. Or at least be honest enough to say: “sorry, even though you made a reservation a couple days ago, we can’t manage to give you that table because our time management is non existent” and not ruin our evening, make us freeze and waste...
Read moreWe stopped by based on reviews. It was busy but waited at the door to try to find a seat. As we searched, a nosey young lady rudely goes "This place is VERY busy and you need reservations. BUT, you've come to the right place." Then, a man with long hair comes out (Later, we found out he might be part owner with his parents?) and goes "Do you have reservations?" When we said no...you should have seen the look on this man's face. He was so appalled that we even tried to eat there with no reservations. We said ok, you're busy all night and turned around embarrassed. They both were rude but we understood it was our fault for not having reservations. As we quickly turned around he screams "well, we're not busy all night!". At that point, we knew something was astray. We surprisingly made our way to Saigon Restaurant. Just a few blocks away. I am glad that we went there instead. The Pho was bomb. The Nime Chow (Summer Rolls) The service was excellent. Later, we did some some research on Viet Thao Restaurant and found their Facebook page...Go check it out. Just two days ago, they were begging for customers because they couldn't pay their phone bills. Just the whole situation was strange. We wish all the best to Viet Thao Restaurant and we hope the man with the long hair gets help. Mental health is a...
Read moreWe stumbled onto this restaurant by accident after the concert. It was very close to closing time (we arrived at 10:15) but the owner was very very nice and gave us a table. I am Vietnamese and my expectations are very high when it comes to Vietnamese foods, especially after all the Vietnamese restaurants we visited while traveling throughout Europe. We ordered Pho Bo (beef noodles), goi xoai tom (mango shrimp salad) and banh chuoi (steam banana in coconut sauce) All three dishes were delicious. The pho has plenty of soft and tender brisket meat. The broth was clear and very flavorful. The mango salad was just as tasty. And OMG the banana dessert was perfect. My wife is diabetic and she wants to get a second serving. Overall, we highly recommended VietThao ( the name of the owner's parents) if you are looking for authentic Vietnamese foods in Vienna. Thank you Thúy and Phước for a delicious dinner. PS. We came back twice afterward for lunch and dinner. The banh xeo was very good. But the heo quay...
