We were a party of 3. We ordered different margaritas. They were served with crushed ice which made then difficult to drink and just watered them down. We ordered totopos with guacamole and salsa Verde. Some chips were stale and others were hard enough to almost break a tooth. The guacamole was mediocre. The salsa was creamy for some reason. Hibiscus taco was the special. It was gritty. Pretty disappointing. The tofu taco was flavorful, probably the highlight of the meal The carnitas quesadilla was super greasy. One of the last bites I took resulted in a splash of grease on my lap. I was eating over the top of the table but it just shot out. The tres leches was really heavy and not a good end to the meal. Espresso martini was very very good. This was very expensive for what we got. I did not leave feeling like it was a good value. To repeat what another review mentioned, you have to go pay at a cashier. The server did not mention this. This definitely cheapens the experience. It might as well just be a counter service restaurant. Nothing really elevated about it...
Read moreAs a Mexican living in Europe for the past six years, I can confidently say this restaurant offers more than just authentic Mexican food—it offers a true taste of home.
Sure, you can find decent tacos here and there, but discovering an amazing birria, a mole that tastes like your abuela’s recipe, and cocktails that feel like a classic Mexican Sunday with family? That filled my heart with joy and my head with memories.
I love cooking Mexican food for my friends, but it’s nearly impossible to find the right ingredients to properly cook traditional dishes from scratch. At Comal, you can taste the effort and dedication the chef puts into preserving our culinary traditions, as well as her many years of experience in the culinary arts.
It might seem like just another restaurant to some, but for Mexicans who truly love their food, Comal feels like a ticket home.
If you’re looking for a cultural and culinary experience, take the chance and enjoy the flavors, smells and hospitality that you can feel from the moment you walk...
Read moreI think I was just expecting more of this place, I cannot say it’s bad, but it could be better. The atmosphere is depending on the part of the restaurant you get your table in, we got sat down in the room on the side, which looked like an old austrian style “Beisl” by design, and did not go well at all with the other parts of the restaurants. It just killed the atmosphere a bit. The staff are nice, but the service is a bit slow at times to be honest. Drinks were AMAZING, really good cocktails, flavourfull, strong but not to the point you would not enjoy it. The food depends on what you order, chicken with mole was amazing, so flavourful, huge portion. The tacos and quesadilla very underwhelming, I’d not order it again. Yes, go here if you want mexican in Vienna, ask for a table between the bar and the kitchen, order the special main dishes, stay away from tacos and quesadillas and have at least a few of their amazing drinks! Oh, the rice and bean mouse served as a side with almost all the dishes were also delicious, get...
