We came to this CafĂ© at 15:50 and we waited by the âentranceâ to be seated (this was written on a board at the entrance). However, after 5 minutes of waiting and the staff ignorantly walking past us we decided to seat ourselves. Mind you, there were only 4 tables full and the cafĂ© was supposed to be closing at 17:00. Another 2 families came a few minutes after us, which was probably upsetting for the staff and at 16:10 they put up a sign âwe are closedâ and no one could come to the cafĂ© afterwards:))
We were ignored by the staff for another 10 minutes before they decided to come to our table and take our order. We ordered ice cafĂ©, which was basically a glass jar that was half full with ice cream and completely frozen so you paid 9⏠just to drink a shot of espresso with whipped cream cause you werenât able to dig through the completely frozen layer of ice cream (maybe you could do that, if you had 2 hours to spare:)) ). After they brought us our order, we were ignored again, no one came to ask if we wanted anything else or if everything was okay. However, as soon as they saw that we finished our cafes, they sprinted over to take the dirty dishes (probably so they could wash them asap and leave work soon) and immediately told us to pay cause they were closing soon (it was 16:25). We left and at 16:40 the CafĂ© was empty - not only from the customers but also by the staff :)))
I have never seen this kind of behavior from staff in an austrian café/restaurant and if I read the reviews before, I would never go there. Their only plus was the beautiful ambiance of a historic museum. If I could give them zero...
Read moreWe only wanted to drink 2 coffees but they told us would only be served if we sat down at the table. We waited 20 minutes before a table for 6 people was set up. There were only two of us but unfortunately we could only sit at this table. Because we manage to sit down at a table we can get the coffee. Tables are greasy and crumbly, touch them carefully if you're dressed nicely. Unwashed dishes and leftover food on every table. One of the waiters left his tray with the unwashed dishes on the pot of one of the indoor plants.(!) After we drank our coffee we waited a long time but no waiter came. That's why I went to the cash register to pay. The waiter lectured me that I can only pay when they come to my table. After a short wait, the waiter came. I wanted to pay by card, but for some reason he didn't like that he said i can only pay with cash at the table. So me and the waiter went back to the cash register, where a few minutes ago they said it was not possible to pay. So I end up paying for the coffee at the cash register. (They don't give you the receipt.) The whole place was very unprofessional and the waiters were frustrated and overworked. Not worthy of the museum and very unhygienic. I do not recommend...

This is my first ever review but I felt like I had to say something...
We went to the counter for service as is standard a most museum cafes and the waiter rudely informed us it was table service.
We had poured some water that was sitting openly on the counter as we intended to also order coffee and cakes. He scowled and said not to do that again but we can take the water with us... I was only trying to save the man some time.
We apologised and sat at a table where he then came up and took the water away with out a word while muttering quietly.
Odd behaviour, and was in fact reverse service, taking away our drinks and not offering us to order. He was also likely to just tip it down the sink as you cannot re-serve it.
We didn't eat here in the end and just enjoyed the rest of the museum which was great.
Avoid the cafe though, I'm sorry if they were having a rough day but that's not...
