Probably the worst service we received in Vienna. We wanted to eat here on our last night in Vienna because my friend really recommended their garden and the schnitzel. We were sat inside which is ok as they said they don’t have table available. But it was extremely warm like boiling. 20 sec after we sat down, a waiter came to take our order but we couldn’t even get a chance to look at the menu. At the same time another waiter came, and sent to other one away, asked our orders. When we said we couldn’t get a chance to look at the menu, he said “you really need a lot of time ha?”… after this, no one showed up for minutes. Again, boiling hot in the resto.

We asked for an outside table or maybe somewhere cooler. Respond was: we will get back to you in 10-15 min if anything opens up. Ok. Someone finally came to take the orders but he was super rude and angry. Very impatient and rude when we asked a question about the food. Meanwhile a table closer to the garden was available and we asked if we can go there, got a yes with an attitude.

The rude waiter brought our services, glasses and water and almost threw it on the table. Angrily filled the water and pushed it and left. Never seen something like this before. Was it because we didn’t order drinks? Was it because we don’t speak German as tourists or was it because we don’t look Austrian? Not sure honestly. It was super weird. If it was the drinks, we don’t do drinks with food as a habit and we were planning to have a drink after. This person was very initiative with the other tables btw, just rude to us.

It was probably the worst dining experience we had ever.

For the food, Schinitzel itself was fine. The salad comes with it is a mix of coleslaw, lettuce leaves, cucumber salad and potato salad in same bowl. It all tastes like the potato salad sauce at this point.

My partner had veal cutlet and he liked it. Unfortunately we couldn’t try any drinks or dessert because of the rude service we received we wanted to leave asap. (Except for the food runner lady, she was nice)

Overall, it doesn’t matter if the food is good if you make someone unwanted and regret dining at your place. And I am saying this as someone from culinary industry and who hates giving low ratings to restaurants because I know the work the back of...

Third time unlucky. We’ve had good experiences here before but last night was one to forget. Lady at the reception completely uninterested in providing any service. Arrived a few minutes before or reservation time to be told that our table was “almost” ready. Then asked to sit down on a side table (out of the way) with a couple of menus for 25min without anybody asking at least for a drink. Very poor start. Then to our table, the manager took over in a very impressive way and orders for drinks and food were taken. We thought, here we go, time to enjoy the lovely patio and great food. Drinks came and the young waiter spilled one of the drinks on the table. Luckily a new drink was brought. Then a different waiter brought the main courses. We had one set of cutlery and napkins missing…Waiter never came back. They had forgotten one of the sauces. My wife wanted another drink. Still no napkins….Nobody would pay attention to us. Nobody offered nor brought water to the table….etc. Let’s pay the bill and go? Again, nobody was bothered. Waiters without interest. Receptionist lady still aggressively not helpful (Friday 27 July evening). We then decided to stand up and walk out when the manager came up and asked us what happened. We told our story. He was shocked and told us that two staff were sick and could not cope with service. I think the problems are deeper than just 2 missing Staff. The problems run into the basics of service and the pride that each worker in that restaurant needs to take with each guest. Completely missing. Our friendly manager asked me: Would you come back? I said, don’t know. You have spoilt the evening for my visiting Argentinian family. Why should I risk it again with other visitors? Food was good as usual. Nice ambience in the patio on a warm summer evening. Service non existent. Friendly manager. Awful receptionist. As a compensation, one of the Neapolitan waiters was kind enough to show some sympathy at the end and discounted the final bill. Too little too late. Desserts were had...

We booked this restaurant on the basis of online reviews and the evening was meant to be a culinary highlight. It was actually the poorest dining experience of our week in Vienna.

I’d seen the website photos of a lovely garden area, and tables with crisp linen. The Google summary of a ‘stylish and intimate venue’ sounded perfect. However we were allocated a table in the ‘cafe area’ quite near the toilets. The online menu says there is a cover charge which includes tablecloths, napkins and a bread basket (fortunately this wasn’t charged as none of it was in evidence as on the interior/inferior tables there were no tablecloths and the napkins were paper). Cutlery was sitting on a metal plate on the table along with the serviettes when we were seated. We were given tap water which was warm. They are obviously extremely busy, but the restaurant really doesn’t live up to the hype that is surrounding it. Service was efficient, but not friendly. Quite offhand. We were in and out in 45 minutes as we didn’t want to linger when we were looking onto diners seated at the kind of tables we were expecting. Had we been walk-ins, I might have been ok with this location, but not with pre-booking.

There are loads of wines on display at entrance, but no wine list was offered. We would probably have bought a bottle of red had we been given the option.

We ordered the Weiner schnitzel and pierogi. The food in general was mediocre. The accompanying salads might be ok if you’re a huge fan of Sarsons (bog-standard malt vinegar). The green salad that came with pierogi was just lettuce leaves doused in vinegar and I had to leave most of it. The pierogi themselves were flavourless and pasty. The Wiener schnitzel was dry, and not as appetising as the numerous others we’d seen when at various restaurants.

We regret wasting one of our limited evenings in Vienna dining here and hope this review helps someone else to avoid making the...

The restaurant in Vienna made us the most satisfied ever! We learned about Glacis Beisl through a travel vlog on youtube. We tried our luck by booking a table at midnight before our visit, and we were lucky. We ordered a starter of beef soup, the main course consisted of goulas (with small bread) and Grammel dumplings on sauerkraut. Apple juice and orange juice were chosen for the drinks. With an extra portion of bread, we paid a total of 40.7 euros. A very good price for two people. With Asian tastes, at first we found the taste quite strange. However, as time went on we became more appetizing and really enjoyed the meal. Personally, I like goulas because they're quite accessible in terms of flavor, but the dumplings with the crispy pork inside and sauerkraut were really interesting. However, the sauerkraut was a bit too salty for my taste, so we ordered bread to go with it. The beef soup was quite basic, warm and good enough for an appetizer but not special. I was impressed that the food was served on a heated plate, which helped keep the food from getting cold quickly in this weather. Restaurant staffs were quite polite and gentle. They thoughtfully asked for our feedback throughout the meal. We have nothing to criticize about the service! We will definitely be back, especially in the summer to enjoy the outdoors!
