Great find for a delicious brunch in a great venue. Found Erich listed in the top 10 places to have brunch in Vienna. It didn't disappoint. So good, we went twice over a weekend. The menu for brunch is great. Can choose set items, or build your own breakfast form a great list of choices. I went with a build your own brunch, starting with a base of toast and scrambled eggs. To that I added bacon, spicy tomato and bean sauce, halloumi and toppings of pickled red onion and Dukkah. Everything was delicious. Eggs were perfectly cooked for me, soft but not runny. A great big chunk of halloumi. A healthy portion of spicy tomato and bean sauce that was a great contrast to the eggs. Crispy bacon. And the toppings of pickled onions and the Dukkah gave a great mix of flavours without being overpowering. This served along with a great coffee and a house style spicy Bloody Mary served with bacon which really had a nice kick to it. Friends also ordered eggs Benedict, Heuvos Rancheros, and the Schoner Erich big breakfast. All of which looked delicious and were thoroughly enjoyed along with a smooth but punchy espresso martini, and a bloody delicious Mimosa with crushed raspberries. The staff here were also super friendly and really accomodating to us all. With a great outdoor eating are when it's warm, and a cosy indoor apace for when it's not. You should definitely try Erich if...
Read moreWent to Erich for brunch on a Sunday and luckily didn’t have to wait long (you can’t make a reservation, first come first served)
Food & Drink ☕️ They offer a variety of dishes which all sound delicious, went for ‘Schöner Erich’ consisting of bread, a variety of extras like ham or cheese and an egg, and a mini açaí. Three main critique points that made me deduct two stars : 1) the coffee took very long and arrived cold, the foam was already gone as it must have been standing around for quite a while. 2) The price you pay for the dishes is not justified by the (‘little’) amount of food you get. 3) And the fact that you pay +40c for oat/soy milk just strikes me. Although the food and coffee was very good, the points above really annoyed me. Therefore only 3 ⭐️
Atmosphere ✨ As it was a nice summer day, the seating area outside was very enjoyable. Generally a very clean restaurant, unfortunately we weren’t offered any water and I went to get salt and pepper myself after a while of not being able to reach anyone.
Overall it’s a nice place in a beautiful location, however, I was not convinced by the offering (price!) nor the service unfortunately. Personally I think there a better brunch places in Vienna, but maybe I’ll try again...
Read moreWhile the food was very tasty, I felt that the portions were somewhat small - I encourage the chef to make them a bit more generous. However, this not my issue here... The biggest let down was the terrible service. I went with my family of four for breakfast and we were greeted at the entrance by a smileless waitress and rudely asked to get out of the way and wait in the corner until a table becomes available. When she took our order she was unfriendly and condescending. My wife asked for well-done eggs as she is pregnant and she said that she had to check with the chef if its possible! Surely, boiling eggs for a couple of minutes more is not impossible. Luckily, we didn't have to deal with this waitress further, a smiling and friendly waiter continued to serve our table. Although he was much more pleasant, when we asked for an extra plate for the kids he failed to provide us with clean ones. Finally, I find it offensive to ask the customer if they would like to leave a tip just before paying the bill. This seems to be common practice in Vienna and when it is coupled with bad service it is extremely annoying. I don't think I will ever return...
