Picture the scene. I'm travelling on business, alone, and just had a so so dinner on the last night I'm in Vienna. I'm walking back to the hotel, because I probably shouldn't do anything else tonight, and then I see people with ice cream. Who the f doesn't like ice cream??? So I go hunting. Well, really more of a keep walking his way until you get there kind of hunt.
I'm not alone. There's a queue. Clearly this place is known by locals and no wonder. It's AMAZING!! I get to the front of the queue, hastily pick some interesting (but understandable) flavours, get told that one is quite strong (my German failed me and so we easily switched to English) but that's cool and I gladly give my money to the pretty lady handing out scoops of delicious multi coloured treats that willy wonka would be proud of.
If you're in Vienna. Go here. I don't care if it's winter.
Oh, and apparently it's vegan or something - which may be important to some, but it's f'ing...
Read moreI had a full stamp card which usually gets you a free scoop of ice cream. I was told by a member of staff that despite I ordered a scoop with two flavours, I cannot get a free scoop because I need to get exactly one scoop. I cannot use my discount for one scoop with two flavours... it was also not possible to get the price of one scoop then off my final bill. It would be easier to not give out stamp cards then if it is so strictly regulated. The extra price on the flavours is also annoying, each time I am told I need to pay extra for getting one scoop with two flavours or a special flavour. Having the same price for all flavours and adjust the costs accordingly would make more sense. I used to like this ice cream chain but being so picky and difficult with customers is not a good marketing strategy. I even brought a friend along who was visiting Vienna and wanted to recommend her this ice cream place, but our experience was kind of...
Read moreTheir tagline is "honest ice cream". First thing you notice is that half the flavors are "specials" meaning they are 60cent extra PER SCOOP. This is at best intansparent and at worst deceptive. I've wanted to try the ice cream sandwiches for a while but they haven't been available several times in a row. So far, nothing about the experience feels honest. The raspberry ice cream was rubbery (how do you even manage that) and the dark chocolate ice cream was soft, watery and not properly frozen. The lemon ice cream apparently had been scooped with a dirty scoop repeatedly and had 5 other flavors randomly mixed in. This is the worst vegan ice cream I have eaten in a long time and the "specials scam" is just ridiculous. I have tried loving this place so hard but it's awful every single time I go there. The good bits: the wafer cones are really tasty, and staff is...
