Los Mexikas in Vienna is a true gem of a Mexican taqueria that captivates with its vibrant atmosphere and authentic flavors. During my recent visit, I had the pleasure of indulging in their Tacos de Costilla, and the experience was nothing short of delightful.
From the moment I stepped in, the restaurant immersed me in a lively ambiance that echoed the spirit of Mexico. The colorful decor, coupled with lively music, set the stage for a memorable dining adventure. The staff's warm hospitality added an extra layer of comfort, making me feel right at home.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show—the Tacos de Costilla. These tacos were a taste sensation, showcasing tender ribs that melted in the mouth. What elevated the experience was the soft spicy sauce that accompanied the tacos, adding a perfect blend of heat and flavor. Each bite was a journey through the rich tapestry of Mexican cuisine.
The service at Los Mexikas was impeccable. The staff was attentive, friendly, and genuinely passionate about ensuring a positive dining experience. From recommendations to timely service, they contributed significantly to the overall enjoyment of the meal.
In summary, Los Mexikas is a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic Mexican culinary adventure in Vienna. The Tacos de Costilla alone are worth the trip, and when combined with the inviting atmosphere and excellent service, this restaurant stands out as a top choice for Mexican cuisine enthusiasts. I wholeheartedly...
Read moreLet me start by saying that I have good memories of drinking some cocktails in this restaurant a few years back (2016). The current 4.5 rating convinced me that the restaunt should still be worth a visit.
If you go there don't let them seat you in the side room. You will feel like you are sitting in someone's bathroom but less nice. Acoustically absolutely horrible as you will not be able to have any kind of conversation if anybody else is seated in the room. The lighting and atmosphere in this room is a joke. I don't mind simple functional setups but this was just unnecessarily horrible.
You don't get a card but have to use your phone to scan a QR code so you can download the card as a pdf.
The last chance to redeem this visit would have been the food of course. The food is not on the cheap side either so I did expect some decent quality and quantity. I had the Tacos that the other top listed reviewer who recently gave 5 stars mentioned are supposed to be a revelation. In the end those were 3 small tacos loosely filled with a few pieces of meat and some souce I would not write home about.
Payment was cash only at the register which is in the pathway to the kitchen jammed with a table where two guests are seated. So you will be forced to stick your bum in a customer's face while you are fumbling around with cash and the waiter will try to pass to and from...
Read moreI’m Mexican and the food here is as authentic as it gets in Vienna! If you’re vegan or too picky you probably wanna avoid this place tho, since they don’t have vegan options and they won’t change the recipes (for the sake of authenticity I assume). If you’re new to Mexican cuisine take a risk and go for the huaraches or get 5 or 7 taquitos (the small ones) for a real Mexican experience. They do take some time, but I’ve cooked Mexican in Vienna and you usually have to make everything from scratch to get the real taste so I understand they actually need long to prepare the food and I’m happy to see they don’t sacrifice taste for timing. We also had some aguas frescas and would recommend you to get them as well to round up your experience. If you go for a beer go for the negra modelo and you’ll drink it straight from the bottle, just like we do in Mexico. Regarding the place I wouldn’t consider it fancy, it feels more like one of those Fondas we have in Mexico and I was super happy they went for that style. The waiter was pretty nice and took good care of us, plus all the workers are Mexicans (as far as I could tell), which also made me happy. It almost...
