Honestly didn’t think I’d be writing this, I moved to Vienna from Houston Texas and after trying another unnamed bbq place in the city, I wasn’t hopeful.

OH HOW WRONG I WAS!!!!

If you’ve ever been to Texas, you will know how the perfect smoked brisket is religion. Today was up there with my No.1. - I’ve tried a lot of the best BBQ in Texas and Truth BBQ over there wins, but this place is on par for sure.

Brisket - extremely moist, smoke ring was fire, fat to meat content was outstanding and fat was supple and buttery, full of flavor.

Pulled Pork - honestly this was actually the best pulled pork I’ve ever had. Better than every BBQ spot I had in Texas in the 5 years I was there.

Tallow cooked fries were also legit, and the bbq sauce (Smokey) was excellent.

Two downsides, firstly, it was bright, the decor would suit a much dimmer lighting situation to add to the ambience. Second, Caesar salad side - it was great, but way way way too much dressing to lettuce - was more like a Caesar slaw? It’s a fat heavy meal so having something refreshing like the salad didn’t cut it due to the amount of dressing.

Other than that, service was some of the best I’ve had in Vienna - this isn’t hard, but it’s HIGHLY appreciated - your team are amazing.

This is the Mastros of BBQ - it’s Texas BBQ but Boujee. Brisket was MOIST. Keep it this way and I’ll keep coming back.

Thanks for taking me...

As a native Texan and bbq snob, of course I had to go eat at a place that claimed to sell Texas style bbq, while on vacation.

It's actually good bbq. I ordered the platter for 2 (yes I shared it). First, it came with beef rib. This is already a plus because beef rib is the best cut for smoking but many bbq places do not offer it at all. The rib and brisket were both well cooked, very tender and moist. The rub for the brisket was sweeter than I would expect (brown sugar included maybe?), but I can make allowances for style differences. I am no judge of chorizo, but it and the shredded/pulled beef were tasty as well. I ordered some bbq sauce, but I didn't used it on the meat at all as the meat was delicious without sauce. The fries are great, and the sauce went well with the fries (although they didn't need the sauce either). Also had a lime custard tarte for desert, which is not generally "Texas BBQ" but I love citrus based custards.

This bbq platter would 100% fit right in at a local good Texas bbq place.

Now, it IS expensive food. Good bbq is expensive, and Vienna is expensive, so good bbq in Vienna is definitely expensive. Set your expectations, this is a "Treat yourself" meal, not every day dining.

Just know that if you want to know what Texas bbq might taste like, you can find it here even if you never make...

Vegetarier/Veganer aufgepasst!

Ordered a bottle of pinot noir (as per labling on the menu), only to discover that it is 100% Gamay. The waitress also introduced it as a pinot noir. Only to later admit that she wasn't sure but just said it was a pinot noir anyway. I initially gave the wine the benefit of the doubt, but could not continue after 1 glass and looked up the exact wine based on the lable. We were not compensated for this glaring mistake. Otherwise the venue had no aircon, despite the middle-upper price category. The smoked platter meat was excellent. So it was too bad that the overall management of the resturant was a mess.

The wagyu beef tartare was great. A lot of different flavors that all came together for a really good appetizer. I wasn't as happy with the brisket, I expected a lot more pepper and more smoke for Texas style, it seems like it was rather overcooked compared to what I'm used to. That being said, it's the second best bbq I've had in Europe. The broccoli was my favorite side, with the coleslaw having a lot of dressing and not as much cabbage. The service was very friendly and spoke English as well. It was a nice restaurant, too. Worth it to go back and try the short rib next time!
