I don't write many reviews but after seeing they reminded a guest that they "reserve the right to take legal action due to defamation", who felt discriminized in their space instead of sincerely apologising, here we go.

So a year ago or so we went to this restaurant, I was very excited to eat good vegan food that'll open my mind for vegan kitchen.

We had a reservation and the waiter asked us to wait, when I asked my gf if she didn't make a reservation, he turned aggressively and said "I'm trying to do something good for you!" and arranged us a place in the garden. I didn't know if I should've felt grateful or just leave the place but didn't wanna ruin the evening for that.

The food was meh in general. 1-2 side dishes were actually good and the rest of the menu was either below average or straight up bad. They came up with this marvelous idea of serving celery with celery sauce and sprinkle more celery on top with celery foam or whatever. Watched too much Chef's Table I guess because the celery was not the "star" of the dish, although it sounded very interesting. After leaving the place I had to eat again even before arriving home and I'm kinda thin, this should tell you about the portion size.

I would still not give such a low rating if the price wasn't sky high and they have obviously a passive-aggression issue. Do yourselves a favour and walk around. 7th district is full of good places with vegan dishes that isn't trying to milk your wallet through vegan propaganda. Or just go to JOLA for a real fine dining experience.

PS: please do keep your...

Here's why you shouldn't go to this place, even if you're fond of vegetarian and vegan cuisine.

The choice in the menu is very limited. Prices are way too high for the quality. Looking at the limited selection in the menu, one would expect some gourmet quality. But truth is that dishes were tasteless and even worse. We were a table of six and were all disappointed. I had the 16€ gnocchi, which were barely edible (dry and uncooked, no sauce) and I couldn't finish them.

The waiters were unprofessional and rude, especially the young one with curly black hair. The older one, bald, was simply unfriendly. Waiters didn't remove our plates after finishing appetizers and before serving the main dishes. We had to remove them ourselves and to ask three times for them to be taken away. We got a half full glass of wine removed from the table and had to ask to get it back. The waiter then asked how much exactly was left in the glass (1/8, 1/4, 1/2) instead of bringing back a full glass.

When paying the bill, the waiter argued in a rude way that we had to do the maths ourselves if we wanted to split the bill. We told him several times that this was not our job and he disagreed several times, before eventually agreeing to do his job.

An overall unpleasant experience. We were happy to leave the restaurant and we will never come back. In case the restaurant managers of Tian are reading this post, please take note and consider making some changes in your business. The venue is great but the poor food quality and service just...

Went for New Year’s Eve dinner. First 3 courses were fine, food was good. Food came out relatively quickly. Two tables next to us, ordered a few minutes before us so they were one course ahead of us.

4th course - the other two tables got theirs. We didn’t. 15 minutes go by - nothing. Now the other two tables on their 5th course. For us, still nothing. Asked the server if our next course was going to come soon. He said a few minutes. 5 minutes pass. I ask again. Then another server named Felix comes over who seems to have been personally offended by our request and proceeds to belittle us, insult us. Telling us that “everyone else is fine, only you are not”. As if it’s our fault. Speaks to us in a loud raised voice. Other tables are listening in. Wholly insulting and arrogant. Never experienced someone speaking in accusatory and belittling manner before just for asking why we weren’t getting our next course. Completely lost my appetite, asked for the check, they charged the whole amount - even for the remaining 3 courses they hadn’t served yet - 229 euros. And we left.

If you’re in the mood to go to a restaurant and be insulted, belittled, and be the tail end of an arrogant service - just ask for Felix. He’s great at it.

I am definitely not...

Reservation was easy on the website. I had made a couple of requests (one about dietary restrictions) and they were very accommodating. The restaurant is situated in a lively area, with an original and contemporary style. We had the chef’s menu, entirely vegetarian, and it was truly amazing. The tian tartar, while looking almost like a meat one, had a unique and layered flavor. All the plates were fabulous, but the risotto served as main course really stood out. Dessert was amazing too. To deliver such flavor, textures, pairings, with such common and inexpensive ingredients ,continuous research and great techniques are needed: congratulations to the staff. Our waiters were extremely friendly, approachable and knowledgeable about the menu. Check was not cheap, but the experience was definitely worth the price for a date night. I just wished they gave us a little extra time between the courses, we felt a little rushed. All in all, absolutely recommended. Grazie!

The best vegan dining experience I’ve ever had. The food is phenomenal and didn’t break the bank. Our favorite was the cabbage dish (the second photo). And I was blown away by the chocolate vegan dessert (last photo) to the point where absolutely nothing mattered around me and I was completely enamored by the taste, texture, everything. 😄 I highly recommend! And their outdoor garden area is adorable. ☺️ I also was pleasantly surprised that we were full afterwards. Some reviews state the plates are small but I don’t think they need to be any bigger because they keep coming out with new dishes to try and eventually we got full which was good. The bread may have helped too. The photos attached give you an idea of the dishes from the vegan tasting option. I would come back for if I ever visit Vienna again and if they continually change their menu. It looks like they also have a breakfast menu so that’s another option.

We had a tasting menu according to the chef's choice. 10 share tastings for two at a fixed price of 41 euros per person. Nice concept. The food was almost very good - the cold dishes (6) were excellent. The hot dishes (2) mix : A dish of Jerusalem artichoke was good, the other dish of roasted kohlorabi was too sour to eat. The desserts (2) was not tasty according to my taste. A cheese cake was to heavy after the meal served with sorbet with an artificial taste of lemon salt. The second desert was a rice pudding that was not successful (with a slightly bitter jam). We also charged extra 4 euros for 2 slices of bread, to excessive price . Service - during dinner 4-5 different waiters came to the table. Most of them were polite except for a waiter who made a face when we said we didn't want a drink in addition to the food . Our total score is 3.5 stars that can improve easly. A place with tremendous potential.
