Witwe Bolte - Gutenberggasse 13 — Restaurant in Vienna

Food and service were overall good and the restaurant has a high end feeling to it. However my main dish, Paprika Huhn, had a detrimental issue, the chicken was extremely dry. Although I don't usually complain I decided to do so that time because it was just that bad. I told the waiter (in German), and he replied that the chicken is fresh and comes in daily and maybe it feels dry to me because it's breast meat. I told him I've had and cooked much breast meat and it's never this dry. But I very quickly realized that it's pointless to argue and just ate the Spätzle that came on the side leaving the chicken almost untouched. an absolute tourist trap schnitzel was old and tasted like shoe sole, potatoes weren’t cooked well. coperto included some dry bread, salted butter and lard, nothing special. the prices and the fantastic location suggest higher quality, but couldn’t be found ANYWHERE in this place. a neighbour of the restaurant walked past our table and noticed we come from abroad. she told us that the owner of the business is renting out his other rooms of the house to a right wing student union, which led to a very uncomfortable discussion between the to two of them. the union is called libertas wien. i regret that we chose witwe bolte. if you visit vienna and desire some good austrian food, don’t come...

I just had an amazing experience at this restaurant today! We went on a tuesday evening, the waiters and servers were super nice, fast, and helpful with us tourists. The meals were delicious, the pork schnitzel was super fresh and hot, which made me really happy. The atmosphere is also amazing, beautiful plants around and one of the waiters added a nice touch once the sun was setting with a candle for the table. It was quiet enough to talk to my friends and have a great dinner together. Honestly the price was a great match for the great food I had, in my opinion. My friends also had a great time.
