Vinothek W-Einkehr — Restaurant in Vienna

Simply Amazing! Great place to experience local wines aptly paired with local Viennese tapas. The owner pours the wines and prepares the dishes himself, a personal touch which makes your experience more enjoyable. It isn't considered a restaurant but it was enough for my girlfriend and I to have had the most satisfying Dinner. We started off with a delicious cold platter of meats, cheeses and bread with fish and cheese spread. It went perfectly well with the wines. We followed with three Viennese meat dishes and ended off with an escargot to die for. The wines were all local wines which I had never tasted before in North America. Total bill for 8 glasses of wine, charcuterie and cheese, 3 meat tapas, escargot was €57. Great value and...

Wasn't impressed with the waiter, didn't seem to know anything at all about wines (used the same 3 epithets over and over for widely different grape types) despite the insufferable attitude. Funnily enough, he seemed to take pride in the fact that there is no wine card and that he was the living, walking wine card . Would've gladly taken a menu in this case, thank you very much

Annoyingly, the cold platter was barely eatable, containing about 15 identical pieces (!) of sliced cheese of the type typically found in a 2-star hotel breakfast.
