We went to Figlmuller on Wollzeile but they wouldn't let us in because we didn't have a reservation. At BackerstraBe, people with reservations were seated first, and those who were sightseeing and didn't know what time to book had to wait on the street. The queue wasn't very long, so we decided to wait out of curiosity, but it got huge behind us. When we finally got inside after 40 minutes, we waited again in the corridor to be seated. Then we were assigned a table, where we waited again for the waiter and then waited for the food. Basically, you wait for everything there. It took about an hour or more

Apart from the wait, the service was polite, everything looked neat and clean.

Food - We ordered the famous Schnitzel, it cost about 20 euros. The price is OK for a place in the center with such a reputation. On the menu, you can read what class the meat is, fried in 3 different pans, etc. We started eating; it was nice that the waiters thought to ask to serve the dessert at the end. This is very important when you have a warm dessert.

As for the Schnitzel, the side dish was a potato salad, probably with lamb's lettuce. The schnitzel itself was very tasty. Delicate, thin breading, thin schnitzel, tasty, easy to divide into portions. The salad was also nice, it had a good dressing, but I didn't like the fact that the potatoes were served cold. In this form, I would prefer something warm, so the salad was nice, but in a warm version, in my opinion, it would be much better.

Going back to the Schnitzel, was it good? Yes, very good. Was it worth waiting 40 minutes outside and half that time inside? Not worth it. Why? Because it's still just breaded meat. A good homemade schnitzel with good meat will have a very similar taste. It's not something that will send me to seventh heaven. I ate it with taste, but it didn't impress me so much that I would say it was worth waiting so long for such a taste. Therefore, if you have a lot of time, wait for the atmosphere like I'm in fameous place, if you don't have a lot of time, believe me, you won't lose much and I think that you can still find a tasty schnitzel in many places.

Dessert - It wasn't anything special for me either, but still tasty, delicate pieces of egg like from an exceptionally fluffy omelet, I must admit, with plum jam that you can dip them in. Actually, it would suit me better for breakfast.

Summing up: two schnitzels, two salads, drinks and one dessert price around 85 euros. The food was good, even very good, but not exceptional. It's not something that excites me. If I were there a second time, I certainly wouldn't queue again. Nevertheless, congratulations on good...

Well well well…

Ten years passed but all taste and ambiance are still remain perfect!

If you are going to visit Wien, you shall visit Figlmüller, for sure.

The most important thing is, reservation is must and I strongly recommend you to reserving table at least a week before your trip. Otherwise you might wait for long time to have a seat.

You can see their menu and make reservation via their user friendly online website.

Ps: for high numbered groups, it is hard to find such a big table to sit all together.

Let’s share details of our visit;

Since we reserved few days ago just 3 or 5 minutes waited at the entrance.

Some tables are very close each other while some are in separated compartment. But there is a fact that tables are little bit smaller than I was used to. And since lamb was very big close to table, it was directly increasing the temperature. I believe it shall be fixed because we were a little overwhelmed by the heat.

We ordered Wiener schnitzel made from chicken breast and veal.

Please keep in mind that they have never have chicken schnitzel in menu but they can serve it if you order.

Being such a crispy at surface while keeping juicy inside of schnitzel with perfect taste is the most satisfying thing. (For both chicken breast and veal) lemon juice also provides quite good taste.(but before please taste without squeezing lemon so that you can decide)

Portions are enough for adults, we just wanted to taste also veal that’s is why there is additional schnitzel in the middle🙂

Their special and well known salad erdäpfel-vogerlsalat is also shall be tasted. While körnel(I believe seed oil) and sauce of it salad provide perfect taste purslane on the top of it refreshes your mouth.

Grape juice (from Figlmüller’s vineyard) is a very good choice as an accompaniment. Sugar balance is very good and taste doesn’t overshadow schnitzel’s.

During my previous experience in here, beer and wine were little bit dominant as a taste so that taste of schnitzel on mouth little bit changed.(personal taste of mine of course)

Domwasser was our choice for still water and taste was as good as expected from natural still water 😁

At the end of the visit, double espresso was served and it was also good.

I strongly advise you to visit here and taste Wiener Schnitzel of Figlmüller.

At the end of the day, they are absolutely “Die Heimat des Schnitzels“ which means “Hometown of the Schnitzels” 🙂

Will visit you again, till that day keep everything same...

This restaurant is suck. I'm surprised that no one talked about that. My friend and I waited for an hour to get a table, and finally we shared a table with a couple cause they only had a table for four. We ordered the fried pork chop and the beef soup. The pork has a smell and the soup is tasteless. I don’t like it in person. We ordered a lot because we waiting for our friend. The couple wanna leave, so they ask for their bill at 10pm. The waiter gave us the bill and cleaned the dishes quickly without asking us. When we realized our food is freaking gone, we are so suprised. When the waiter came back, my friend asked him why he took our dishes. We tried to explain that our food is left for our friend. However, he said the plate is already in the kitchen. And if we ask for the bill, he assumes we are done. We don't do this in China or the US. So we have no idea he will do that. And our situation is that the couple asks for the bill, but not us. I feel like he didn't want to care about what customers think and he just wanted to finish his job. Fine. Then we split the bill with the couple. It’s not a very pleasant dinner so far, so we don't want to give any tips. We clearly know that the waiter in Europe are above the minimum wage and they don't live their life with tips. But when the waiter went downstairs, he said something bad in German, and unfortunately, my friend understood German. So we really got pissed off and we asked to see the manager. The manager apologized, but it could not save my bad mood. The customer service is so bad, and the food isn’t that good. Please just don't believe the age or reputation or something else about a restaurant. My friend said that a restaurant is 100 years old means that the creator has already died, so you cannot taste the original flavor. So damn ture and won’t come...
