Courtyard by Marriott Nassau Downtown/Junkanoo Beach — Hotel in New Providence

We ended up having to stay here because our flight home to Houston got canceled due to a hurricane. We spent four nights just be prepared. The walls are paper thin you could hear anything going on. The floors are also tile and vinyl wood so that just adds to the echoing and no sound cushioning. One of the evenings there was fireworks going outside because of their independence it was so loud it sounded like a war zone, but we didn’t complain because obviously it’s citywide party so it would probably be loud regardless. Our last night, the people in the room above us were children running around and rolling around on the desk chair that’s provided in the rooms and slamming drawers for hours! I called down after a couple of hours of it because I hoped it would die down because I understand that kids can be quite hyper. I have my own! The lady at the desk told me that she would call the room. She called me back and said nobody answered and she asked to let me know if it called down. It did not so I called back 15 minutes later she said she would call again. She called back and said they did answer and it was a bunch of children up there so she was hoping that since she had called that it would get quiet I knew that wouldn’t happen but I gave it another 30 minutes, but it did not get quieter. I called again and she said she would call the room again and I said no please go ahead and send security up there. She said she would. We waited another 15 minutes and it still didn’t get any quieter so my husband, very frustrated and said he was about to go up there and kick the door in and tell the kids off himself if they didn’t get somebody out there, she said she would call right back, when she called, she said that security had made contact with the parents. After that, it did get quieter however, about every 20 minutes there was a loud pounding noise upstairs until around 2 AM and then they woke up at 7 AM. So that was a rough night for us. The room itself felt fairly clean, but the bathrooms felt like they could definitely have been cleaner, the shower curtains smelled like mildew . I tried to take a shower in the morning and there was zero hot water so I don’t know if it’s a shared hot water heater for the hotel and everybody else had taken a shower already, but that was not fun ! The gate that would normally allow access to get to the beach faster we’re all locked. I think that they should put some money into making the gate system work with your key card for your room instead of just locking gates and making you walk along way around. The beach that you can access itself we went around 5 PM one day to check it out and because there’s a bunch of mini bars lining that beach, there was trash everywhere I mean to the point of embarrassment and distress for our oceans!! We went into the water, the beach and water had so many broken beer, bottles, and bottle caps that were rusted all over the ground in the water. I decided to do small bit of snorkeling around that area while my husband held our toddler in the shallow waters and I saw even more trash. It really made me sad. I did see some fish and some rays which was nice but it’s really sad how gross that beaches after people come visit I’m hoping that there’s some kind of netting system that catches all that trash and debris before it goes out into the ocean ??

I recently had the misfortune of staying at the Courtyard by Marriott (Nassau) and dealing with the manager Kimberley. I must say it was one of the most disappointing experiences I have ever encountered during my travels. The level of service I received was utterly unacceptable, leaving me with no choice but to share my experience and warn other travelers.

From the moment I arrived, it was clear that something was amiss. Not only was I never given a room key, but I wasn't even shown where my room was located. In fact, I was confined to the front desk area, unable to explore any other parts of the hotel. This lack of assistance was highly inconvenient and unexpected.

To make matters worse, I discovered that the hotel claimed I had checked out on a date when I wasn't even on the island. It is baffling how such a glaring error could occur within their management system. The overall attitude and professionalism of the staff were severely lacking, which is particularly disappointing for a Marriott property.

I took the initiative to speak with one of the front desk employees who confirmed that I had never used any of the hotel facilities. I even contacted Expedia, who reached out to the hotel on my behalf. However, despite all efforts, the hotel staff seemed to be the only ones confused about the entire situation. This level of confusion is incredibly strange and disconcerting.

To add insult to injury, my refund of over $1200 is still being held by the hotel. It is absolutely unacceptable that my funds are being retained for a stay that I never even had the opportunity to experience due to an odd incident in their parking lot. The delay in receiving my refund is completely unjustified.

In light of this experience, I cannot stress enough how disappointed I am with [Hotel Name]. As a loyal customer of Marriott properties for many years, I expected a certain level of service and professionalism that was sorely lacking during my stay. I sincerely hope that the hotel management takes immediate action to rectify these issues and prevent similar occurrences in the future.

I caution all potential guests to reconsider staying at Courtyard Marriott until they can assure a comprehensive resolution to these problems. The Staff is beyond amazing. From March of 2025, I only communicated via email and a few calls to host one of the larges Family Reunions for my family in a country I had only visited as a guest. Never had I stayed at this particular hotel. But Ms. Maegan Neymour assured me this was the best location. Not only was the group rate untouchable, but they were very welcoming to the early arrivals and late check out. Her generosity to ensuring my family will love not only location but hotel was truly on point. Thanks Ms. Maegan, we had a wonderful time and will be back. ||Their banquet halls and meeting rooms are beautiful and very accommodating for all ages / disabilities. Mr. Denico is the Facility Host at banquet hall, the level of professionalism displayed by him and his team, made my entire soul smile. The set up was absolutely beautiful. These guys helped me set up and create decoration when this was not a part of their job. They helped me create a weekend of memories for my family that I will always cherish. The level of hospitality truly exceeded my expectations and dollars. But the food, when I tell you do not sleep on this location the food had us licking our fingers and getting thirds. No need for takeout containers the food was gone. ||Upon arrival, I never touched a bag and was greeted with cocktails. Mr. Clyde and luck of the day the GM was their Mr. Isreal was not only very helpful but was same the entire time of our stay. Mr. Clyde made sure to make everyone in our group feel welcome to be in Bahamas and ensured we were safe as we left the hotel for evening walks. ||The CNDJB, is in the best location with many restaurants and the beach view is wonderful.
