Drifters At Da Fish Fry — Restaurant in New Providence

For a place that runs on tourists, you'd think they would try and treat them better.

We stood in the doorway, waiting to be seated for an uncomfortable amount of time. It was a Thursday afternoon around 4pm and there were more staff than customers in the restaurant.

The waitres who finally seated/served us approached us with no enthusiasm or greetings. She offered no assistantance in understanding the different Conch salad options. We ordered the tropical, and received the traditional. No apologies.

Our hamburger / conch burger arrived after the table that was seated after us, got their food first. No apologies.

They arrived with the wrong order, and promptly took it to that table too - again, no apologies.

It was the first time that I really had a problem with the automatically added 15% tip on every bill here in Nassau. Typically, we have received very good service.

The food was good, no issues there. They get a 3 star, only because the Conch salad at Oh Andros is SO MUCH BETTER.

The service here is so nonexistent and chaotic that no heaven quality of food can make up for our terrible experience here for dinner. We walked into the restaurant wanting to dine in for dinner but had no clue what to do because no waitress laid eye on us or told us to sit/gave us a menu. After we sat down for 15 min and grabbed a waitress for menu, we waited for over an hour (prob ended up in 80min) for our food (I think she forgot to place the order and only did so after I asked her after 40min). It was just a terrible experience.

To be fair the food was okay. We ordered a fried snapper (tiny fish though) and the tamarind chicken wings. The wings were decent, but def not worth the 80min wait (15min maybe). I visited this spot for a late lunch/early dinner, honestly I was not really impressed. I had lunch upstairs and the carpet had a weird smell so I sat outside upstairs. It didn’t have no garbage around but it was dirty with dust… I don’t know maybe I should have expected that outside but I dine at outdoor restaurants all the time and they’re normally clean.

The conch salad was really good! I definitely recommend that. The rice was a bit tough and didn’t taste to fresh, the fish was a little high in salt, I didn’t eat the coleslaw because it was cut chunky instead of fine pieces and it didn’t look too appetizing. Yes, I’m a picky eater. The macaroni was ok.

I love the native theme and the cans as cup holders but please somebody change the cans, I’m sure the rusty can is not sanitary. We don’t out of the cans but it’s around our food and the drinks are inside.
