This beach is an excellent option for cruisers. It's a 20-30 minute walk from the port and boasts crystal clear water, soft sand, and several food and drink options. In mid-May, the water was the perfect temperature.
The only negative at this beach is that it's relatively crowded, but we sat near the water so we have a lovely view of the water and the lighthouse. We rented two chairs and an umbrella for $30. They told us it was $10/chair and $20 for an umbrella, but they'd give us the umbrella for $15—we only had $30 and they didn't seem to care.
We ordered food from one of the food stands and paid about $45 for a beer, one water bottle, fried seafood, and a chicken sandwich with fries. Pay attention to the fine print ok the menu because there are gratuities and taxes that aren't factored into the list price. The food was good enough but it didn't change my life.
If you are interested in water sports, there are paddle boards, water bikes, jet skis, canoes, etc available to rent too.
Definitely a good option if you are coming from the cruise port and want to spend the...
Read moreThis is a free beach, assuming you want to sit in the sand. The sand had a ton of glass in it. Just in the little section I was in, I picked up about 20 pieces. They have chair rentals at a decent price. There is a hut serving alcohol at super cheap prices. We got 4 beers and 4 shots for $10. The shots tasted terrible and the beer was Presidente. Still though, $10. The view at the beach wasn't that great, but it was very close (walking distance, 15 minutes) to the cruise ship dock. A lady offered to braid my hair, which I was pretty excited about. She offered me $2 a braid, which I told her to just do the top. After all was said and done, she somehow got 40 braids on the top and then said that she was charging $3 a braid. She wanted $120. I told her that I only had $100. This ruined my experience for the beach. A lot of people selling their services. Also, there are a lot of restaurants across the street from the beach. There are also portable restrooms...
Read moreThe water was beautiful. Unfortunately, there was just a small area for public access, and the port holds up to 8 ships. There were 5 ships at port while we were there, so it felt pretty crowded. We got there early, so it wasn't bad at first, but as the day went on, it got more packed. On top of that, there are the locals who are constantly trying to rent you: the umbrellas, beach chairs, jet skis, and other assorted equipment that you'll have to say no to several times. Some of them are trying to sell you trinkets and stuff just trying to make a buck. Heard the same guy give different sob stories that changed from person to person. The beach and town itself had trash everywhere. Was a very clean experience. Unless you want to see the town and learn a little history, I'd recommend skipping the beach and staying on the ship or at...
