This beach is an excellent option for cruisers. It's a 20-30 minute walk from the port and boasts crystal clear water, soft sand, and several food and drink options. In mid-May, the water was the perfect temperature. The only negative at this beach is that it's relatively crowded, but we sat near the water so we have a lovely view of the water and the lighthouse. We rented two chairs and an umbrella for $30. They told us it was $10/chair and $20 for an umbrella, but they'd give us the umbrella for $15—we only had $30 and they didn't seem to care. We ordered food from one of the food stands and paid about $45 for a beer, one water bottle, fried seafood, and a chicken sandwich with fries. Pay attention to the fine print ok the menu because there are gratuities and taxes that aren't factored into the list price. The food was good enough but it didn't change my life. If you are interested in water sports, there are paddle boards, water bikes, jet skis, canoes, etc available to rent too. Definitely a good option if you are coming from the cruise port and want to spend the day relaxing.

Leaving Downtown Nassau and Bay Street, we headed west towards Margaritaville. A few steps away is Western Esplande Beach… While the waters of Western Esplande Beach (Nassau Bahamas) was beautiful with its really fine sand, we felt the layout of the beach to be a little weird. If you take a look with Google map, you’ll realise that the beach area is “encased” by piers on both sides of the beach. So it is not an “uninterrupted beach” where you can walk all the way along the waters from east to west of Western Esplande Beach. Also, the water’s a little cold when we were there. There are also bars nearby where you can get some magaritas and cocktails while enjoying music by the beach... For more details, visit 2bearbear today!

The water was beautiful. Unfortunately, there was just a small area for public access, and the port holds up to 8 ships. There were 5 ships at port while we were there, so it felt pretty crowded. We got there early, so it wasn't bad at first, but as the day went on, it got more packed. On top of that, there are the locals who are constantly trying to rent you: the umbrellas, beach chairs, jet skis, and other assorted equipment that you'll have to say no to several times. Some of them are trying to sell you trinkets and stuff just trying to make a buck. Heard the same guy give different sob stories that changed from person to person. The beach and town itself had trash everywhere. Was a very clean experience. Unless you want to see the town and learn a little history, I'd recommend skipping the beach and staying on the ship or at your resort.

Public beach spot without vendors' haggling !!!! Facing the water, on the left of all the shops & rentals (across the street from the Courtyard hotel), this hidden space under the trees' shade provides a cool, non-commercial access for beach & relaxation. Same water & sand (a bit "trashy" from vegetation nature) but much cooler temperature vs that in other areas (even with an rental umbrella) Bring your own towels or ground covering since this is a non-commercial spot. For the restroom, walk back to the vendors' area (across the street from the police station). Just to be safe, again bring your own supplies (soap, TP, etc...) we found none available on our stop.

Jakanoo Beach is a nice place mon. It's free and its the "authentic local experience". You don't get hasseled, Kalik Beer is cheep and refreshing, the barbeque aromas... amazing. There is free WiFi and the beach is empty weekdays with mostly cruise ship passangers and crew hanging out. I brought my goggles, snorkle and a GoPro camera and there is an abundance of life to explore. There are many sea urchins, and lots of game fish on a reef. It looks like they are putting the foundation for a larger commercial bar/hut... There goes the tranquility.

This a very decent beach with many small restaurants and bar near to it. Also very at a walkable distance from the port where the cruise ships come. If getting down from a cruise, come to the road after checkpoint and keep right and walk along the shoreline to reach here. Its a beautiful beach with clear water to spend a day. If not planning to get into water. You can still sit along the concrete piers and enjoy the beautiful views. Farther you go on the beach from the cruise ship lesser the crowd.
