I occasionally visit this place since it is very close to my office. As usual, today I went there with my colleagues and ordered a few items. Along with other items I ordered there peri peri chicken. Ok, we all know what peri peri chicken does look like and taste. And it was more like fried achari chicken with red oil gravy. So I refused to eat and politely returned it. So there was a female staff came and asked if I wanted something else, so I ordered one of the same items my colleagues ordered. Meanwhile, the restaurant manager came and was kind of charging me if I knew the taste of Peri Peri Chicken, and started explaining it. Then I showed him from Google and refused to accept that, and the restaurant manager made a grumpy face and returned to the counter. After that, he strictly instructed other staff not to listen to our queries and communicate further. Also, they kept us waiting more than 30 minutes to replace the order. By that time the restaurant manager was giving very uncomfortable looks to my female colleagues that they even left the restaurant early. We never experienced such discrimination just for denying to accept improper food was very unexpected. Also, we had a drink named Lassi was a nutty milkshake where the ingredients were not mentioned which they should aware us earlier. Only a female staff was helpful towards us during...

Yesterday, we had a reservation at @Coal&Coffee Banani for eight people for iftar. Our orders were taken an hour and a half before iftar. However, even 35 minutes after the call to prayer (adhan), they couldn’t serve us our food. Only drinks and dates were served. After waiting for 35 minutes and deciding to leave after paying just for the drinks, their behavior became unacceptable.

The drinks that were supposed to be part of the BDT 1,490 platter were charged at BDT 370 each, which is the price from their regular menu. When we requested to adjust the bill, their misbehavior escalated. Despite their mismanagement causing the delay, they treated us poorly, claiming that we were canceling the order and therefore they would charge that price. If they had served the food, we wouldn’t have made the decision to leave. After waiting patiently for 35 minutes without iftar, no one could tolerate such treatment.

There wasn’t even the slightest sense of accountability on their part—they didn’t even apologize. Instead, they kept arguing with us.

It wasn’t just us; this happened to many others as well. Some people with reservations didn’t get seats because they arrived a bit late. They stood there without...

Looking for a cozy rooftop spot to enjoy your afternoon coffee in this busy city? You can definitely check out this place.

It’s a spacious restaurant with mostly well-decorated outdoor seating arrangements. Afternoons here are perfect for sipping coffee and watching the day slowly turn into a dusky evening. (Disclaimer: Check the humidity level before choosing to sit outside—it can be a villain sometimes!)

It’s a great option for visiting with friends or colleagues.

The food is good, though I personally prefer the food at their Uttara branch.

My food recommendations: peri peri chicken, hariyali kebab with naan, spicy dory fish, fish and chips, and butter chicken. The good part is that most of the dishes are served as platters, and the portion sizes are enough and sometimes more for one person.

As starters, you can go for the wedges or calamari.

Coffee here is a bit pricey compared to other places, options a bit less, you can try depending on your preference.

Dessert options are limited. I tried the Oreo cheese—it tasted just okaish to me. I wanted to try the chocolate moist, but it wasn’t available at the time.

The staff are friendly and responsive, which adds to the overall...

I recently visited Coal & Coffee in Banani for dinner with colleagues and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience. The café offers a stylish yet comfortable setting, making it an ideal spot for both casual meetups and relaxed dining. During my midweek visit, the crowd was light, contributing to a calm and pleasant atmosphere. From the menu, we tried the Peri Peri Chicken Platter, Chicken Malai Kabab, and Butter Naan. The peri peri chicken, served with rice and vegetables, was hearty and protein-rich—perfect for a filling meal. The malai kabab paired well with the soft, buttery naan, while the fresh lemonade added a refreshing touch to the evening. Overall, the food was flavorful and offered good value for money. The staff were friendly, attentive, and professional, which enhanced the overall experience. One minor challenge is parking—spaces in the building are limited, so drivers may need to find nearby alternatives. With its combination of quality food, premium coffee, inviting ambiance, and warm service, Coal & Coffee stands out as one of Dhaka’s trendiest café destinations. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a cozy environment to enjoy great food and unwind.
