El Gato Gordo 🇲🇽 — Restaurant in Antwerp

I recently had the pleasure of dining at El Gato Gordo, that served some of the best tacos and beer I've ever had. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by friendly staff who promptly seated us and took our drink orders.

The atmosphere of the restaurant was lively and vibrant, with colorful decor. It was the perfect setting for a night out with friends or family. The tacos were outstanding! They were bursting with flavor and perfectly seasoned. Each taco was generously filled with meat, vegetables, and toppings, and they were served on soft, warm tortillas. I particularly enjoyed the pork tacos, which were tender and juicy.

To accompany our tacos, we ordered some beers. The beers were cold and refreshing, and they perfectly complemented the spicy flavors of the tacos.

I had dinner at El Gato Gordo a few weeks ago. I did not have much experience with Mexican food and this was an amazing discovery for me. The quality of the food was superb and it all was authentic (so I was told by real Mexicans that were present).

The restaurant was packed when I was there, so there wasn't much room to manoeuvre. The waiters were also very busy, so sometimes we had to wait a little. This didn't bother me at all, since this isn't a fast food place, but rather a real restaurant to spend an evening.

The staff was very friendly and could provide tips and information about the food. The atmosphere overall was very pleasant and cosy at the same time. The Mexican music in the background was great.

This Mexican restaurant offers a “relaxed while eating in a nicely decorated Mexican living room” type of good experience. The food tastes very organic and homemade. Their menu is quite small unfortunately. I ordered the ‘Jack's tacos’ which tasted healthy in a positive way but personally, it lacked a bit of flavor/ seasoning which is unfortunate because the food is on the pricier side. For drinks you have enough options but limited when it comes to cocktails because they offer different types of Margaritas only as cocktails. They are really good though!
