Fantastic vegan cafe!! One of the best I've been to, I wish it was closer to where I live so I could go all the time. My friends and I got brunch plates which were HUGE and came with hot drinks & juice, great value. We couldn't finish everything and had to take the croissant home (not complaining about this, I love to leave a place feeling full). They have smaller plates available too. We were lucky we arrived on a Thursday so were able to get in without a booking. Unfortunately no chance of getting in on the weekend so I wasn't able to go back - I tried :(

Staff very friendly but like many places in Bruges they don't like groups larger than 4. There were more of us, we were happy to be seated at different tables and be served / pay separately. We could tell this made them uncomfortable, but not sure why as there were plenty of tables on the Thursday and we were happy to be served by table and not as a larger group so really no different then if we were seperate customers who didn't know eachother... I think it's a Bruges thing though not just this place. Many places don't allow this whether they have space or not. Cultural maybe? Or just because venues are small? Don't know... That said, we WERE all accomodated (seperately, which was fine) and served with a smile and the food was fantastic. I was the only vegan and one other vegetarian, but everyone said how great the food was. Strongly recommend, I don't know if they take bookings but if you want to visit on a weekend you will almost...

Blackbird has been my go-to spot for over 4 years and they don’t stop to amaze me. Their vegan food is nothing short of amazing - always fresh, creative and full of exciting flavours. Whether it’s their famous toast kimchi with melted cheese & maple syrup, the fluffiest (coconut berry) American pancakes or one of their vibrant lunch bowls, every dish is made with care and passion.

The specialty coffee is another highlight of Blackbird. In Bruges (the city where I grew up), it’s not a given to find good coffee. Luckily for me, their rich, smooth and perfectly brewed coffee is the best in town. Whether you’re looking for a classic cappuccino, cortado, espresso or a filter coffee of the month, they never disappoint. The same goes for the fresh juices and tea.

This brings me to my next point of appreciation: the atmosphere, which is truly something special. It’s cosy, welcoming and feels like a safe space. The staff play a huge role in creating that. They are always friendly, attentive and genuinely happy to help, making every visit feel personal and warm. Nowadays it’s unique to find a place which puts inclusivity and care + quality above quantity at the forefront. If you’re looking for a place with incredible vegan food, outstanding coffee, and a vibe that makes you feel at home, Blackbird is it. I can’t recommend this place enough! (Ps. Very nice place with a great location and a very pretentious owner. So go to Tatties!

We arrived hungry and willing to pay the overpriced 22 Euros for a boiled egg, coffee and Juice, when I took a last sip of my water when the owner came to tell me that in HER business she also sells water and that it was rude from me to drink my last sip of water in HER business and that she will not allow it.

I was going to buy, coffee and orange juice and do not see the problem of giving a sip to the last bit of water while we wait for her to serve us.

If you read her replies on TripAdvisor to every feedback she gets, you will see her pretentious behaviour and way to treat customers. It is always our fault on her kingdom, I mean, business. I sincerely do not understand why she got so upset and end up telling both my sister and I that "she is no longer willing to serve us"

It is a shame that this was the first impression we got from Brugge. We were lucky that right next to this nasty place, there is a place called Tatties where two very nice ladies served us breakfast eventhogh breakfast...

Had a great breakfast experience here this morning! I couldn’t book online, but the pretty and super friendly waitress with tattoos kindly found me a table. I had the filtered coffee of the week (Ethiopian, natural process) — so good I ended up having a second cup. The American pancakes were just how I love them: soft, not too sweet, served with fresh fruits and crunchy pistachios that added a perfect texture. I also really appreciated being able to use my Dutch — and I’m thankful to the waitresses for not switching to English when they noticed I wasn’t a native speaker. It made me feel welcome and encouraged to keep learning! I sat outside to enjoy the nice weather and view, but the inside is also beautifully decorated and very cosy. Highly recommend.
