Short review: very crowded and tiny, the service is weird if not rude, teapots are small and expensive, no water refills. This place spoiled the impression of Bruges.
Full review: Well, firstly the Cafe is very small and was quite crowded when we got there. We proceeded to the back to check for seats, didn't find any and when we were leaving, the lady stopped us very rudely and asked us why we were leaving if we used her toilet ( whaaaat? We had hardly been there for 10 seconds and already were accused of something!) After we explained that we hadn't find any seats she pointed at a couple who we could join (second "whaaaaat?). We were exhausted and were reluctant to look for another place and stayed. I ordered tea that smelled deliciously but when she brought it to me, it was a 200-250ml teapot extremely small for €4! (Third "whaaaaat?) Tea was good, I clearly wasn't satisfied with the amount, so I asked for refill of hot water. "I don't do that!"- was the answer (fourth "whaaaaat?" ) I always get refills all around the world when I order tea in teapots. And I was definitely expecting that for two reasons: first was the price, the second is that good loose tea can be brewed more than once with even better results and throwing out tea after brewing it once in the smallest teapot ever is just wasteful. And it's just hot water! I was very disappointed and these little mishaps spoilt my impression of a sweet little town of Bruges and got me to writing my...
Read moreI recently visited Vero Cafe for the first time, during my first trip to Brugge, Belgium. Unfortunately, my first impression of the cafe was extremely disappointing. The weather was sunny, and we were seated by the window where we wanted to close the curtains a bit. As I was trying to adjust them, my daughter helped me. Suddenly, a woman — I’m not sure if she was the owner or a staff member — approached us very seriously and angrily. She grabbed the curtain cords from our hands and, while shaking her finger at us, said things like “This is not for play” and “You are not allowed to touch.”
We were shocked by her behavior and immediately felt very unwelcome. Her attitude was anything but friendly or customer-oriented; it was aggressive and made us feel extremely uncomfortable.
I didn’t leave right away because we were part of a group, and others had chosen this cafe based on online recommendations. Luckily, we stayed long enough to try the coffee, but unfortunately, it did not taste good either.
Overall, I had a very negative experience at Vero Cafe. I did not feel relaxed or comfortable, and I would not recommend this place, especially for families with...
