Disappointing breakfast and rude service
We went today (19/06/2025) to have breakfast at De Vier Winden in Bruges with my father. We ordered two coffees and two croissants. The coffees came quickly, but the croissants took more than 20 minutes. By the time they arrived, the coffees were already cold. We asked the waiter about the delay and requested that they reheat the coffees. Instead, he brought us a small glass of hot water to add ourselves to the coffee — something I’ve never seen in my life.
We told him we didn’t want that, we simply wanted the coffees reheated. The waiter responded rudely, asking, “What’s the problem?” We explained that he had brought the coffees 20 minutes before the croissants, and that both should be served together. His answer was even worse — with an arrogant tone he said, “This is Belgium,” implying that this is how things are done here: coffee first, then a croissant half an hour later.
At that point, a manager or the owner stepped in. We explained the situation, and fortunately he agreed to reheat the coffees (as we had originally asked), although he muttered under his breath, “It’s too early for problems”… It was 10:30 in the morning.
The whole experience was unpleasant, not just because of the poor timing, but especially due to the waiter’s disrespectful attitude. If we had been informed in advance that the coffee and croissant would be served separately, we simply wouldn’t have ordered. We came from Brussels, where everything is served together, so we really don’t know where this waiter got his “this is Belgium” line from.
Wouldn’t recommend. Very poor...

I had two types of waffles here—one with strawberries and one with sour cherries. Both were absolutely delicious. The waffle base itself was perfectly cooked: soft inside, crispy outside, and full of flavor. The ice cream, whipped cream, and sauces were top-notch and complemented everything beautifully.
I also tried their cherry beer, which was surprisingly fruity—more like a refreshing fruit drink than a typical beer, though perhaps that’s exactly the point. I also had the red fruit beer, which I enjoyed even more—it had a deeper, more beer-like taste with rich fruity notes. Both drinks are definitely worth trying if you’re into craft beers or fruit-flavored drinks.
The staff was outstanding. Rhytm, our waiter, was incredibly friendly and attentive. Florin, another staff member, kindly took our photo—and I have to say, he takes fantastic pictures!
The view from the restaurant is stunning, overlooking the square and offering a relaxed atmosphere perfect for any time of day. This place combines great food, friendly service, and a beautiful location—a rare find.
Highly recommended for waffle lovers, beer enthusiasts, and anyone looking for a cozy spot with...

My girlfriend and I went to Bruges on my birthday and chose this place for lunch, let me tell you - it was beyond disappointing and I was very near to walking out without paying.
We were ignored walking in and seated ourselves... Food is HUGELY overpriced. After signalling 5 times to a waiter did they decide to come over to see why “I’m bothering them”...
The food came out wrong with no apology. With no cutlery! And chase a waiter again for another 10 minutes to get service....
When we tried to eat - a rude arrogant waiter set up a table OVER US whilst we are eating... These shocking waiters need to be fired and never let near the place again, their service is a disgrace - rude, arrogant and beyond ignorant.
The waiter only smiled and acted respectful when he thought he was getting a tip... ..needless to say he got nothing from us and he’s lucky we paid the bill.
Disgusting and disgraceful establishment, a cancer to Bruges.
AVOID...
