Malpertuus — Restaurant in Bruges

I feel unwelcome and like a tourist trap. Normal at a warm day i ask for tap water and also order other drinks, but they dint give tap water, they want you to order water from bottles. We ordered 3x menu of the day and all 3 different mains. The waiter ask do you want bread and we thought thats a good idea. I didn't say it was garlic bread from the oven and it came 2 times for 3 euro each? For my steak, he asked do you want a sauce with your steak, but every sauce was 2 euro. We didn't get mayonnaise with the fries. We didn't dare to ask for more, because everything costs extra. We didn't expect this from a good looking restaurant, but this is a tourist trap. We have been in many restaurants where we left with a good and satisfying feeling. This restaurant was NOT one of them. Please stop the tourist trap and start make people...

We went here based on the reviews, but had a very bad experience. We were staying at the Hans Memling hotel (wonderful hotel) and went here for dinner. Although we had asked for the "special" ... I guess we had not requested the specific starter that came with the special and were charged more without those benefits. We spoke with the owner who at first was very sympathetic ... but as it turned out she didn't want to make a problem with her staff member (who was very loud and aggressive and accused my wife of being a "Donald Trump supporter" among other things). This was a very embarrassing experience and it has ruined our otherwise wonderful and beautiful visit to Brugges. We love Brugges ... but we did not like the arrogance and imperiousness of this...

Were there tonight, food was great 👍. The person below my comment was eating there at the same time as we were and I’d like to clarify that they were not clear to the waiter what they wanted, and when they challenged him they did so VERY loudly, laughing and clearly trying to ridicule him in front of other staff and diners. While I think the whole situation could have been handled better by both parties involved, I think the below commenters need to rethink their approach to dealing with what was clearly a misunderstanding, and be mindful that the staff are doing their best to accommodate them by speaking in English. Overall, food was good and we had the set menu - not the “special” service could have been quicker but we were not...
