Really fancied sushi and stumbled across this lovely little place just off the high street. Itâs a little tucked out of the way but was on our way back to the hotel. The place was tiny but they managed to seat 6 of us. NB there is no air conditioning and it was hot (August). But it was clean, with functional WC, cute decor and my children loved the k pop playlist!
Service is very friendly and helpful. Drinks you help yourself from the fridge other than tea that they make for you.
Food came out quickly and beautifully presented. The fried udon was ok, a little dry but nice flavours. All the sushi was the standout here and the tataki salmon was to die for, so much so that we ordered more. When the second lot came they also gifted us some onigiris, so we left feeling very full!
Full disclosure: they gifted us the onigiri and asked for a good review which we would have even without the gift. But it was a cute touch and I feel the need...
Read moreThe only authentic thing about this place is the decor! The donburi are not donburi, it was stir fry veg topped with eel that I chose, then a side of rice. It's a Chinese stir fry and flavours were Chinese not at all reminiscent of Japanese! Takoyaki undercooked, Karaage was ok but lacking flavour, Miso was clearly not homemade and just from a packet reheated in the microwave! Before people say I'm being unfair, I lived in Japan for 15 years. Sushi coming out looked good and is probably more their forte! It's a generous 2 star! FOLLOWUP - You missed the point of the review and haven't addressed the glaring issue! Yes I could have flagged the undercooked Takoyaki but I didn't finish them so why bother, it's not like you can cook them more! And I'm afraid after 20 years in the food industry, your Miso is heated in the microwave, there is no way a bowl...
Read moreWe chose this place based on the good reviews, but unfortunately, our experience didnât quite match them. We ordered 12 California salmon avocado rolls, one portion of takoyaki, one portion of rice with beef, and one portion of noodles with beef for takeawayâtotaling âŹ50. The California rolls werenât great. Iâm not sure if it was because the rice was still warm (Iâve had non-cold sushi before), but these tasted a bit off. Maybe theyâre better when eaten in-house, but I didnât want to take the risk, so I left them. The takoyaki wasnât good eitherâsoft instead of crispy, likely due to the steam in the takeaway containerâand they lacked flavor. On the bright side, the rice and noodles with beef were much better. The staff were very polite and friendly, which we...
