Authentic Mexican Gem in the Heart of Brussels. (With gluten free/Vegetarian options).
Tucked awav in the center of Brussels, this small Mexican restaurant is a true hidden gem. From the moment you step inside, the warm, colorful decor, complete with portraits of Frida Kahlo and Emiliano Zapata, sets the tone for an experience that feels genuinely Mexican, both in spirit and in flavor.
We started our meal with a plate of nachos topped with extra jalapeños, perfectly crisp and generously layered with fresh inaredients. Each bite was a balanced mix of spice and texture setting the stage for what was to come For the main course, we tried three different tacos: Taco de Tinga de Res, Taco de Pollo con Mole and Taco de Raias con Crema. Each was astandout in its own way, handmade tortillas, rich and authentic fillings, and flavors that instantly transported us across the Atlantic. The Tinga de Res was beautifully smoky and tender, the Pollo con Mole offered a complex. sliahtly sweet depth, and the Rajas con Crema was comforting and full of character.
We ended on a sweet note with a slice of Pastel Tres Leches, a light yet indulgent dessert soaked just right the perfect finale to an already memorable meal.
It's rare to find a restaurant abroad that captures the true heart of Mexican home cooking, but this spot succeeds effortlessly.
A must-visit for anyone in Brussels looking for genuine flavors friendly service, and a culinary...
Read moreReview of Los Charros, Brussels Rising food prices and the wellknown problems in the restaurant industry are no excuse for culinary sloppiness. Anyone willing to pay hefty sums for a simple dish today has every right to expect at least care, quality, and respect in return.
At Los Charros in Brussels, however: nothing of the sort. Barely through the door, order placed at the counter and I already had the feeling: this won’t end well. My expectations were low to begin with. Unfortunately, my impression proved correct.
40€ for two drinks and a total of six tacos a catastrophic price performance ratio. The dishes were so poorly executed one might as well have thrown them against the restaurant’s windowpane. Taste: bland, uninspired, downright unacceptable. Especially disappointing were the vegetarian options. Anyone familiar with Mexican cuisine knows that vegetarian dishes are among its absolute highlights. Here, however: a complete failure.
My advice: if you feel like throwing 40€ out the window, give it directly to a homeless person instead. At least then someone benefits and you’ve done...
Read moreThis place has the worst tacos you will ever taste, authentic should not be in the name out of respect for tacos and Mexico, this might pass for people who have nothing to compare to but as a fellow Mexican that’s traveled a lot, this was disappointing to say the least. They claim cochinita pibil should taste like cinnamon(which you can google it shouldn’t ) but it’s a poor excuse to just drown them in it, meat is stale and you can taste that it has been overcooked and laying in water they claim to be sauce for a long time. The tortilla is an overpriced cold piece of plastic. You can see is not fresh let alone taste. Guy working there reflected the quality of the tacos and the lack of passion for the food they serve. Honestly Taco Bell is heaven compared to this, take that as you please. Save yourself the trip and your money. Y Como Mexicana no mamen y que verguenza bien saben que en mexico no comemos estas...
