Broodjeszaak Martens — Restaurant in Ghent

A very nice breakfast cafe. We loved the decor and the service was pleasant. They have a lot of breakfast and desert options to chose from. We specifically wanted big salads, so I took a Greek salad and my husband a Caesar salad. They were both very fresh and super nice. It was kinda unusual to find shredded carrot in a greek salad, but I actually liked the combination. They have variety of teas on offer and I drank a very nice herbal blend. The only thing that could be improved is the bread that comes with the sald - it's american-style toast bread, which generally is quite na unhealthy product. Some sourdough would be som much better. Generally we really liked it here and will come back for more breakfasts...

Coffee was good. They do not show correct prices - charged more than on the menu and she (service) could not realy explain why. Mother and daugther running the business - the daugther was ok in service with a short service time. Quite place during the week in the morning. As well after a raining morning I needed to warm up (wintertime November!) - their was no heater on nothing and when I wanted to warm my feet(very very cold) under my popo (of course without shoes) she told me off ith the reason other guests will not be fine with it.... But obviously she was not... Next time please straight forward...

Onvriendelijk personeel en het eten totaal de prijs niet waard!

Helaas was mijn ervaring in dit restaurant niet positief, wat leidt tot een beoordeling van slechts 1 ster. Het personeel leek onvriendelijk en het eten was teleurstellend saai en smakeloos, vooral gezien de relatief hoge prijs. Ik had hogere verwachtingen van de Panini Hawaii, die voor €5,50 werd geserveerd en niet aan mijn smaakvolle eisen voldeed. Ook het broodje ham en kaas was matig belegd voor €5,50. De tafeltjes waren niet alleen te klein, maar ook instabiel. Toen ik probeerde om er drie mensen te laten zitten en deze verplaatste, werden ze zonder enige vorm van beleefdheid teruggezet door het personeel. Al met al kan ik dit restaurant niet aanbevelen op basis van mijn ervaring.

Ik snap niet hoe deze plaats aan een 4 sterren...
