China Paleis — Restaurant in Ghent

This wasn't a very good experience for me, mostly because the lady who owns the place came and asked me and my wife to quiet down in the middle of our meal! It was just me and my wife enjoying a quiet Friday night date and we are not really loud speakers! And there were other people around louder than us. (Family of 8 was really loud). Duck was edible, ribs were disgusting and swimming in oil, 0 taste in the lamb. Every dish was swimming in fat/oil. The china palace appetizer special was just a cheap loempia out of the freezer and a fried chicken saté you wouldn't even dare to order in a frituur. The people that were eating there were all old people without tastebuds. Can't complain about...

Right next to the main train station in Gent is an oasis of flavours and hospitality… I have never been to China so I couldn’t say which kind of cuisine they do, but I can say: it was delicious. The service is friendly and fast. Highly recommended! Specially the chinese style chicken with chinese mushrooms - umami in a nutshell
