edelrot — Restaurant in Ghent

I have been here few times and I can confirm in Edelrot has pretty nice wines (and beers) and tasty hapjes freshly served from the kitchen. Unfortunately, I was disappointed twice by the service: once I arrived 1 hour before the closure, around 22 if not mistaken, to have a quick glass and got bounced at the entrance since the bar was ‘closed’. Inside the personeel was allegedly drinking and laughing on their (not reported) earlier end of the shift. Second time happened this week: bar half empty, greeted by the waiter and then completely got ignored for 15 min. Quality of drinks/food may be high but if service acts like that often I think I will find a more pleasant place to...

Lovely relaxed winebar with a nice offering of natural wines (as the name implies). There's plenty of drinks for your friends that aren't into wine too, a wide range of beers, (home made) kombucha and so on. The bites are delicious as well, a plate with local cheese is a solid option. The owners are very accommodating and will gladly help you navigate the wines and the menu. The owner plays records, which creates a nice atmosphere. Tapwater is offered when ordering wine, which is a plus. I love spending time here with a book...

We came recommended by some beer friends. It exceeded our expectations. Super friendly staff. We ordered the roasted carrots and the Korean meatballs and we loved both dishes. It’s a shame we didn’t spend more time in Ghent to come back. But it is definitely in our list and we’ll recommend it to anyone visiting Ghent.
