My friends and I were visiting Ghent for a couple of days during the festival and we stopped there because there was a promo to get a Delirium hat for 3 Delirium bottles so we ordered 6 to get 2 for the girls. One of the hat was wrapped and new but the second one wasn't and seemed a little dirty and if different quality, so we asked if we could exchange for one that was like the other, but were met with some incomprehension (I thought because of language barrier).
So I went inside to explain better, but was actually met with a lot of animosity by the manager/owner and and basically lectured on how this was a gift we were getting (mind we went only went there to get the hats originally...!!) and there was no exchange and how terrible I was for asking something like this like I was asking for her kids kidney. I felt bad and apologized and said I only meant to exchange it because of quality and didn't think it would be an issue, and then she kept lecturing me for a while until I nodded and left completely in shock, but after that the mood was soured and we drank our beers pretty much in silence and left.
Honestly if you're local go, but otherwise I feel outsiders are not welcomed maybe and I understand the festival might have been quite a tough week on the staff, but I didn't deserve to be treated that way I swear. I'm quite a reserved person and don't like confrontations so I didn't expect that at all, I am always polite and trying to be nice to everyone, even apologize to her, but I feel that wasn't right to be honest on their part.
Anyway loved the hats, but in the end they will be a bad reminder of that time I got my head bitten off...
Read moreWalked in and was immediately met by some guy giving us a look like "why are you here". There were seats on the main floor and he told us to go upstairs. Took a while for a waitress to come by, who was just as stuck up as the guy downstairs. My fiance asked for any recommendations and she told him whatever on the menu is fine and looked at us until we ordered.
When she finally came with our drinks the glassware stunk of goat cheese which made the beer taste off and then she handed us the bill. The bar opened an hour before we got there so I don't know why she was in such a bad mood. But honestly I was glad that we paid and got out of there. WORST experience I've ever had and I definitely tell anyone visiting Belgium to stay far away from this place. There are so many other bars along the canal if you're looking for...
Read moreSimply, dissapppinted. Such a bad service. No matter how good your beers are, don’t embarrass your customers in front of everyone else, being rude and impolite will not sell your beers more. 7 people in the group sat down at a 6-people spot and tried to add a chair next to it. The staff literally started to shout, saying ‘how stupid it is’ to do so, and because of the overall mess we couldn’t react fast before they announced they won’t serve us anyways. Oh well, that’s how a bar loses very loyal customers, and more exact 7 of them. Some calmer approach to situation could have totally solved the situation, but the staff decided to be stuck with their decision that only evolves the business, not listening to the customer
Just remember, prioritize a customer, it pays your bills, not the...
