We booked a table for a romantic dinner on Sunday evening. Unfortunately, the reservation process wasn’t the most convenient — the restaurant doesn’t accept reservations via Google, and they didn’t answer calls, only responding through email. Still, we made it work.
Upon arrival, we were greeted and shown to our table. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with a charming Italian interior. However, the positive experience unfortunately ended there.
We started with bruschetta to share (6 pieces for 24 euros) and ordered two pasta dishes. When the bruschetta arrived, it looked like the pictures we had seen in reviews, but the bread was cold and astonishingly hard. This wasn’t just a typical crispy bruschetta; it was tough, almost impossible to cut or bite. The toppings were average at best, and it didn’t feel like a dish worth the price.
When we shared our concerns with the waiter and the manager, their response was dismissive. The manager informed us, "This is how Italian bruschetta is supposed to be" and pointed out that other customers were eating it without complaints, implying that the issue was ours alone. There was no apology, no interest in addressing our feedback, and no offer to remedy the situation with a fresh dish, a dessert, or a discount.
By the time we left and paid the 100-euro bill, we felt disappointed, unacknowledged, and unwelcome. Sadly, this wasn’t the experience we hoped for, and we don’t plan...
Read moreThis is so sad! I read reddit reviews saying this place was great! I also read reviews that the food was terrible. I tried to give them a chance since reviews can be tough to deal with. Before we ordered I noticed the guy next to us didn't finish his plate. The server asked him if it was okay he said it wasn't his taste. I should have left at this point.
I've had better Italian food in Japan and the States. The reason I had to ask for parmesan on my pasta is because the noodles were so salty I couldn't eat them! So we paid for a full plate of pasta that I had to leave behind. So sad. Another table asked for parmesan so I thought that was likely a good idea so I could eat the pasta and not waste it. The restaurant owner came over to tell me that that was a bad idea. I get it but perhaps she should have asked me why I was needing parmesan to add to my dish. Perhaps the food was the problem and not me. I find that restaurants try to do 20 dishes instead of do ten dishes really well.
This place has good wines and the clams with the salty pasta were good. She was surprised I was done with my dish however no one asked if we wanted dessert. I'm in bed now and even after brushing my teeth my taste buds are covered in salt. I really struggle with spending money on bad food. I apologize for complaining. I recommend eating at Belgium restaurants while you...
Read moreI have to say that we were quite disappointed with this restaurant. The location of the restaurant was very convenient, as it was right next door to the Marriott where we were staying. The reviews on Google were also good, but unfortunately, the food did not live up to our expectations.
The restaurant itself was very cute and cozy inside, but the food was just okay, and some of the flavors were not as expected. We had the Cacio e Pepe, which had an unnecessary amount of lime zest and at least 25 almost whole peppercorns that made it difficult to eat. The ragu penne was fine, but the pasta was very al dente. The worst part of the night was when a bug landed in my partner's drink. We let the waitress know, and she took the glass to the bar. We watched as they fished the bug out with a spoon and returned the same glass to us. When we asked for a new one, she brought it right away, but ended up charging us for two, even though the first one was thrown away. While I can understand the policy, I would have appreciated being warned that we would be charged for the circumstance that was not our fault before being surprised when we got the check. Overall, there are many other places near there, and if I were ever in the area again, I would most likely not return to...
