Unique Asia sushi — Restaurant in Ghent

My girlfriend and I ordered via Deliveroo.

We are both fans of Asian cuisine and were rejoiced to find Unique Asia on the delivery list.

We ordered: Chicken Pad Thai Chicken Yakitori Chicken Ramen Chicken Momo Chicken Teriyaki Chicken Karage

To our disappointment, everything was bland and without flavour whatsoever. We could be eating any of these with our eyes closed and have no clue what we are eating... To put into perspective, the frozen yakitori of Delhaize has way more flavor that the ones we received.

The only good thing we received were the karage, not that it was "Oh My God this is good!" but more of the sense... "This is ok"

To conclude, this was a waste of money and we will probably never order there again. Asian cuisine is supposed to be filled with spices, an abundance of flavors, which were clearly absent in these, an absence of Umami.

A toast with some ham will be our enjoyment for...

This family restaurant is owned and run by a lovely Nepalese couple, so when they offer authentic momo in the menu, you can be sure it's the real thing! 🙂 I loved the momos and was put in mind of the street food I used to eat traveling in Pokhara.

I also ordered sushi here a couple of times. I'm usually suspicious of sushi served in all-Asian restaurants, but I was pleasantly surprised - the sushi was great quality, fresh and well prepared, and the portions well priced.

The service is always super friendly and pleasant. It is a real family joint, and feels like it.

All in all, I think this is a great place to grab your asian takeaway or have a quick bite to eat. My only point for improvement would be to invest a bit in the decor (perhaps post-corona...) - the food quality here is definitely good enough to make this a pleasant date-night restaurant, and not just an Asian...

I ordered takeaway and picked it up 2 minutes before the scheduled pick-up time. Then I walked home for three minutes. How is it possible that the food was completely cold? Not even steaming anymore. The dumplings were sticking to each other and already getting hard. The noodles are no supposed to keep the box shape when I get them out. It is only when the food has been standing for a while that it takes this shape. Also the shrimp Pad Thai does not taste like the real thing, just oily noodles. If the food wasn't this old I would not have written the review but I saw others had the same experience and expecially when shrimp is involved the food needs...
