Symphony Coffee & Food & Bar — Restaurant in Ghent

This café is almost the only reason I ever venture up from the South to Strop. Every time — whether I’m with friends or on my own — I order a filter coffee. And every time, Samuel greets me with a gentle smile and says, “I’ve got some new beans. Want to try them?” And every time, I say, “Of course,” because I know the coffee is going to be a solid 11 out of 10.

But it’s not just the coffee. What makes this place special is the quiet — a rare kind of calm. It’s not one of those loud spots where reading a book feels impossible because the music’s blaring or some group has decided to throw an impromptu party. Here, you can just be. You can read, think, unwind with friends after a long day at university, or — more often than not — try to catch up on one of the dozen deadlines we’re constantly buried under.

This place is about coffee, people, and a kind of silence that tastes as good...

That is my favorite café in Ghent! Samuel provides the best service ever and it is very nice to talk to! He has a lot of knowledge about different kinds of coffee and knows how to give the best recommendation for you. The coffee itself is delicious and pairs perfectly with the brownies and cakes! I love going there weekly to study and do assignments with my friends, it's an awesome location and a very cozy and comfortable environment. Definitely worth it adding...

Samuel is an absolute legend! I’ve rarely felt so welcome in a coffee bar. Super friendly vibes, and as if that wasn’t enough, Samuel even came over to the table and showed us a magic trick – how cool is that?!

The food was also very tasty. The Albanian Salted Toast is a must-try! Sitting on the terrace in the sun is just perfect – it doesn’t feel like you’re in the busy city of Ghent at all, more like a peaceful little village in Italy.
